LOVE AT FIRST BITE

Paul & Mandy met in April 2019 at Rosebud diner in bustling Davis Square, Somerville, Massachusetts. Both ventured out to compete in Thursday night trivia, where they were joined by other trivia-goers and introduced by a mutual friend (thank you, Hannah!).

Between trivia questions and bites of pie, the two chatted, laughed and instantly hit it off. The team may not have won trivia that night — but Paul & Mandy walked away as winners in each other's hearts.

PAUL & MANDY SCORE

Weekly trivia nights just weren't enough, so they quickly sought out more ways to spend quality time together. After a little bit of convincing, Mandy dusted off her old glove and joined Paul's softball team in Cambridge.

The two spent many Monday nights together on the diamond — first as teammates and, before long, as boyfriend and girlfriend.

YOU FLOAT MY BOAT

Paul was an avid wood-worker by the time he and Mandy started dating. In 2019, he was already a full year into his most ambitious project to date: Hand-building a traditional wooden boat. That summer, Mandy hopped on board the project, too — both out of curiosity and a surprising desire to learn how to use power tools.

Together, they spent countless hours in Paul's grandfather's wood shop in Rhode Island, constructing a 12-foot Herreshoff rowboat and oars from scratch. They taught themselves the art (and science) of boat-building as they went along, solving complex problems and working together every step of the way.

In September 2020, they launched her with some family and friends at Echo Lake in Rhode Island — and much to their delight, she didn't sink. Her name is HERITAGE, as both a nod to Paul's woodworking roots and to the hope that she'll stay in their family for years to come.

ROOMMATES. PUPPY PARENTS. FIANCÉS.

In June 2020, Paul & Mandy moved into their first apartment together in Arlington, Massachusetts. They established a very happy routine of working from home, cooking elaborate meals, binge-watching Survivor and playing as many board games as they could find.

Seven months later, Paul & Mandy decided there wasn't enough chaos in their lives — so they brought home Lucy, an 8-week-old yellow labrador retriever. Since then, Lucy has stolen their hearts (and slippers) time and time again.

On their 2-year anniversary, Paul surprised Mandy with a re-creation of their first date at Rosebud. It was complete with pie and trivia — only this time, the questions were all about their love story. His final question was asked down on one knee: "Will you marry me?" It was the easiest “yes” of Mandy’s life.

Paul & Mandy are ready and excited to spend the rest of their lives together — and they look forward to all the adventures and passion projects along the way!
