In one quick, smooth motion, he caught me in a dip that looked like it belonged in a Hallmark movie. I looked up, stunned and a little embarrassed… and then I looked into his eyes. There was something in them—calm, kind, steady—and for a moment, everything else faded away.Joe likes to say it was the “play of the day” (he not only caught me, but didn’t spill his drink). I fell for him—literally—and he never let go.From that moment on, something just clicked. Not long after, in a quiet room under the staircase, Herman kissed her for the first time. Roslyn later said it felt like the top of her head was on fire.Their connection was electric and undeniable. Before Roslyn returned home, Herman handed her five Hershey bars—the first gifts he ever gave her. They cost a quarter each, but she treasured them. Sponsored by his cousin Joe in Youngstown, Ohio, he began to build a life grounded in hard work, faith, and the dream of a family to call his own.On weekends, the Seminara family would travel to McKeesport, Pennsylvania to visit friends—the Mazzarese family. It was during those visits that Salvatore, who everyone affectionately called Sam, began to notice a young woman named Caterina. She was graceful, kind, and steady—a quiet strength behind a gentle smile. The two families hoped for a match, and they were right to. Sam and Caterina were married in 1921, surrounded by the people who believed in their love from the very beginning.Together, they raised five children and opened their doors to many relatives over the years, offering not just shelter but belonging. Sam worked hard to provide, and Caterina contributed as a talented seamstress at Bonds. Their life was simple, generous, and full of love.Sam passed away in 1964 at the age of 71. Norm responded by mail (yes, real paper and pen!) and we began a sweet exchange of letters and phone calls that sparked something special.Though our first few dates were quiet, Norm's gentle spirit shone through when he wrote me a heartfelt letter asking me to give love a chance. That letter changed everything. One year later, under our apple tree, we promised forever. That was in 1993 and here we are, still holding hands through life’s seasons.Norm is my hero—steady, kind, and full of love. Our life has been built on patience, trust, and knowing when to speak and when a quiet presence says it all.As we sit here today, watching Paulina begin her own love story, our hearts are full. But one day, in walked Bill. He wasn’t even my customer, but he noticed me—and later said my smile stopped him in his tracks. He asked the bank president for an introduction. I thought I was meeting a top executive. Instead, I met Bill… and everything changed.He was charming, thoughtful, a lawyer, and a devoted father to two beautiful young daughters. He told me his story openly, and I didn’t hesitate. I didn’t just fall for Bill—I welcomed all of it, all of them, with my whole heart.Our first date was at a Chinese restaurant—my first time trying it. It felt new and exciting, and we talked for hours. I knew right then something extraordinary had begun.Six months later, we were married—on December 29, 1973, in my parents’ home, surrounded by family. Our honeymoon in New Orleans was the first of many adventures. Together, we added three more children to our beautiful family. Life was full—full of laughter, full of love.Saturdays were for Gator sports. We’d pile everyone into the car, dressed in orange and blue, and head to Gainesville for football, basketball, or baseball. It wasn’t about the game—it was about being together and keeping traditions alive.We also traveled the world hand in hand, exploring new places with curiosity and joy. Whether it was a bustling city or a quiet corner of the globe, we loved discovering it together.When my time came, I went first. And exactly one year later—almost to the minute—Bill followed me. Just like he always did. Side by side, even into eternity.Being Paulina’s Mimi and Poppey was one of the greatest joys of our lives. The evening before, at a lively cocktail party full of laughter and friendly wagers, Bob was already stirring up some playful competition. That’s when I challenged him. We made a bet: my team versus his.Bob likes to joke that he had a brief moment of guilt about taking money from a woman—but not enough to back out. As fate would have it, he didn’t need to worry. I played the best round of my life, and our team nearly won the whole thing.Now, in the spirit of golf tradition, the winner of a bet buys the loser a drink. But when Bob handed me the $20 he owed, he added, “How about we make that drink… dinner?”That dinner became our first date.At our wedding, we had a groom’s cake that read: “The price of happiness is $136.” That’s the $20 Bob lost on our bet—and the $116 I spent on dinner.
