If you are looking for a fun day trip to go hiking, sightseeing, or even just to spend some time outside, the Black Canyon of the Gunnison is the place to go! About 1.5 hours from the venue, and through beautiful Montrose, you can see the mini version of the Grand Canyon. Purchase a day pass ($30) and you can drive around the canyon, hike through the canyon, or even see the views from the visitor center. We recommend seeing Dragon Point, and also the South Rim.

Just outside of Grand Junction/ Fruita, Colorado National Monument is a must-see! You can drive to the monument, or if you are more of a hiker, it is just a short hike with plenty of other trails around the area! Plenty of panoramic views, and great photo-ops! You can also access the trailhead (longer hike) in Whitewater on your way into Delta from Grand Junction via Hwy 50.
Grand Mesa
Where we are getting hitched! The worlds largest flat top mountain, and a no longer active volcano. There are plenty of trails to hike, bike, and atv. Plus plenty of paved roads to access lakes, campgrounds, or areas of interest. If you head to the very top of the mountain, you will find a road that leads you to Lands End- a scenic outlook where you can see all the way into Montrose and the San Juans as well as Grand Junction towards the monument. Plus, you can feed chipmunks! A favorite of locals, and wildlife alike. On your way up, you will see over 40 lakes and streams, along with plenty of wildflower fields and pines. If you do decide to fish, please ensure you have an active fishing license (BLM is very active in this area) which you can purchase in town. There is no fee to go hiking or exploring, just remember: pack in, pack out!
