What is the best way to travel to Florence?
There are two excellent options to travel to Florence: (1) fly directly to Florence; or (2) fly to Rome and take a train to Florence. The train ride from Rome to Florence is scenic and approximately 1.5 hours! It's very possible that flying into Rome and buying a train ticket to Florence will be the most economic option, depending on when you book. To book your train ticket, we recommend using the following website: https://www.italiarail.com/
When should I arrive in Florence and how long should I stay?
This depends on your travel preferences/plans, but we recommend arriving at least a couple of days before Sept. 5th, our wedding day, to recover from jet lag. We will have optional activities planned from Monday to Friday (9/2 - 9/6).
Where should I stay?
We recommend that our guests stay within a 10-15 minute walk from our Airbnb in Piazza della Signoria. This will make meetups easier and you will be in an ideal location for exploring on your own as well!
What do we do for transportation once we arrive?
Thankfully, Florence is one of the most walkable cities! You probably will not need to use any kind of transportation as you are exploring the city, but Uber does work in Florence if necessary. You will likely want to use Uber to get from the airport or the Florence train station (depending on how you're arriving) to your hotel or Airbnb. Transportation to our venue will be provided for everyone on the day of the wedding.
What will the weather be like in early September?
Weather is usually moderately warm with an average temperature of 68 to 93 degrees Fahrenheit. It's quite humid, but the evenings tend to be cooler.
Is there anything special we should pack?
Please plan to bring sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and an outlet adaptor, as your plug-in devices will probably not be compatible with Italy's outlets. Here's a link to one on Amazon:

Where is the wedding venue and how will I get there?
Villa di Bivigliano is a 25-30 minute drive from the city center. A bus will take all our guests to and from the venue. We will have a meeting place that is easy to walk to for this.
What is the suggested attire?
Semi-formal is suggested! Please wear something comfortable for potentially hot weather.
Are the non-wedding activities in the itinerary optional?
Yes, the non-wedding activities are entirely optional, although we recommend attending the welcome dinner if possible! The other activities we have planned will encompass several of the main attractions in Florence, including the Duomo, the Uffizi Gallery, the Academia, and the Boboli Gardens.
Will there be a cash bar or open bar at the wedding?
The bar will be open and serving wine, beer, and light cocktails.
Will there be a registry or should I bring a gift?
We will not have a registry, your presence at our wedding is the best gift we could possibly receive! If you feel compelled to provide us with a gift, however, we will have a honeymoon fund for which you're welcome to contribute.
What is the time difference?
Florence is 9 hours ahead of PST.
What other cities do you recommend adding to my travel plans while in Italy?
Rome would be our primary recommendation, as its history, culture, and food make for a guaranteed unforgettable experience! However, other amazing options are Milan (1hr 50 min by train) and Siena (1hr 15 min by train). We're happy to give recommendations for food, activities, and accommodations wherever you go!
