Perla and Armand had met once in college, after mass held on campus. They shared a handshake and ate lunch in a group setting, but didn't have much conversation. Armand had an eye for Perla anytime he saw her at church, but graduated and moved cities for work before getting to know her.

In 2019, Perla returned home to spend time with her family for Christmas break. It was the initial Sunday of Perla being home that Armand, after moving from Houston to a small town 60 miles away, saw her again for the first time in over a year bright and early at St. Michael's.

Perla, being a Eucharistic Minster, made her way to the altar to prepare the celebration. In that moment, Armand felt the same gaze upon Perla he had in college and knew it was no coincidence.

After mass Armand picked up his phone, surprising himself by logging into Facebook on attempt number one, sent a short message to Perla "just" to say hi. Bewildered that anyone our age would move TO Lake Jackson, Perla kindly offered her number.... only to result in Armand not texting back for three days!

Once Armand was done playing hard to get, they went on their first dinner and it went as perfectly as you can imagine. It led to This Way and That Way tours, coffee dates, and attending mass together. Since then they have shared many wonderful moments together.
