Our Story 

The saying goes that nothing good ever happens after midnight,but there are exceptions to every rule. In April 2014, we each headed to Jazz Fest in the Big Easy. Pete was there for a bachelor party (and to see Phish) and Amanda was there to enjoy her first fest (and to see Phish). It was the witching hour when we first met outsideOne Eyed Jack’s in New Orleans.&nbsp;The spark was instantaneous and undeniable, and Amanda extended her trip to spend a few more days with Pete.

It was remarkable that even though we had both lived in San Francisco for over 20 years collectively and shared a common music community, somehow we had never met before that evening. But alas, life soon took us in different directions. Pete moved to New York to pursue his Masters at NYU, while Amanda moved to Denver to prove once and for all that she needs to live near an ocean. Fast forward to 2019, when Amanda moved to Brooklyn. We reconnected through mutual friends, but it wasn't until the Covid lockdown hit that we truly became inseparable. We were fortunate to live walking distance from each other at the time, so we became each other’s pod mate and together we wandered the surreal landscape of New York City during lockdown. After countless dinners and covid cocktail hours, jigsaw puzzles and rounds of backgammon, it was obvious that the spark was still there.

The rest, as they say, is history. So almost eleven years after that fateful night on Toulouse St. and endless adventures later ... we're getting Merried! We are so thrilled to be able to bring our family, friends, and (some of) our favorite musicians together to celebrate our wedding day in the Bay Area - a place where we both left our ❤️ ❤️. Thank you so much for joining us. We couldn't imagine this day without you.

◆ San Francisco's airport (SFO) is approx 35 miles from downtown San Rafael. This route includes the breathtaking trip over the Golden Gate Bridge.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; *** Weekend rush-hour traffic from SFO to Marin can get pretty gnarly, so if you are arriving on Friday, April 11th, please make sure to allow at least 1.5 hours to travel from the airport to downtown San Rafael.&nbsp;

◆ We strongly encourage you to consider flying in/out of Oakland Airport (OAK), which is approx 30 miles from downtown San Rafael and is generally an easier commute. This route takes you over the Richmond Bridge.*** If you are arriving on the afternoon on Friday April 11th, allow at least one hour to get from the airport to downtown San Rafael. ◆ Rental cars are available at both airports. * See Q&amp;A for more travel info.

Conveniently located in downtown San Rafael, this is the closest hotel to the wedding venue in our wedding block and will be one of the shuttle stops to and from the wedding and after-party. It is also only two blocks away from California Gold Bar where we are hosting the Friday night welcome party, and there are lots of other wonderful shops, cafes and restaurants all within a few blocks. This is the most modern hotel-- the rooms are sleek, chic, and minimal. There is also a rooftop bar/restaurant, <a href="https://resy.com/cities/san-rafael-ca/venues/above-fifth?date=2024-09-01&amp;seats=2" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Above Fifth</a> with panoramic views of Marin, although it might not be open for the season). AC Hotel San Rafael

This hotel is a little further up the road in San Rafael, but definitely worth the few extra minutes. It's approximately 20 minutes from the wedding venue and 10 minutes from downtown San Rafael. It will be one of the shuttle stops to and from the wedding and after-party. There is a larger selection of rooms to chose from at this hotel, including multi-room suites, which will be included in our wedding room block. The hotel offers ample parking at a discounted wedding rate of $7 per night, free wi-fi, complimentary breakfast, room service, and indoor pool. The restaurant / bar is great...all local sustainable food and delicious cocktails. They also host a complimentary light bites and cocktail/wine reception every evening starting at 5pm. This hotel is a great option for groups traveling together!

Embassy Suites by Hilton San Rafael Marin County

This is the smallest and most refined of the hotel block options. All of the rooms enjoy gorgeous bay views and most rooms have private balconies. The hotel offers free wifi, free parking, a complimentary full breakfast, and hosts a complimentary wine reception each evening. The hotel is located directly off of Hwy 101 in Mill Valley. It is approximately 25 minutes from the wedding venue and 10 minutes from downtown San Rafael. For those of you who may be extending your time in the Bay Area, our discounted wedding block rates are good from April 6 - April 17, 2025. The location of the main event, Fairfax is a quaint yet vibrant town in the heart of Marin. Whether it's the charming historic downtown area with it's multitude of shops and restaurants, the easy access to open spaces and scenic vistas for hiking or mountain biking, we hope you're able to take some to time to explore all that the area has to offer.

Biking, hiking and soaking in the views of the San Francisco Bay are just some of the options in this coastal town just 12 miles / 20 minutes from San Rafael.

⛵️ Tiburon

A cathedral of redwoods, ranging from 400 to 800 years old, and reaching heights of 250 feet. There are flat, easy trails that loop through the grove, along with a few more adventurous loops. Parking reservations required – BOOK EARLY. It's only 17 miles from downtown San Rafael, but on weekends it'll take you close to an hour to get there.

🌲 MUIR WOODS

The closest coastal town, Sausalito is a great spot to grab some chowder and watch the ferries come in from San Francisco. It's only a 20 minute drive from downtown San Rafael.

A very windy road&nbsp;up and over the Marin headlands will take you to the protected coast. Those looking for a strenuous hike should consider the Dipsea Trail Head. Stinson Beach is 20 miles from downtown San Rafael; on weekends it will take about an hour to drive there.

🌊 STINSON BEACH

2,571 feet, on a clear day you can see the San Francisco skyline, the Marin hills, the east Bay, and even the Farrollan Islands 25 miles out to sea. It's only 17 miles from downtown San Rafael, but on weekends it can take close to an hour to get there.

⛰️ MT. TAMALPAIS

Take a drive over the Golden Gate Bridge and head to San Francisco. Great vistas of the bridge can be had at Hawk Hill, Battery Spencer, and Fort Baker. 🦀. FISHERMAN'S WHARFThe #1 destination in San Francisco can feel like a tourist trap, but the majestic views and hundreds of sea lions lounging at Pier 39 make up for it. If you're not from New England, you may even enjoy the clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl, or use the boat ride over to Alcatraz to perfect your Sean Connery brogue. Other scenic destinations in San Francisco are The Presidio, Lands End, Golden Gate Park, the oldest Chinatown in the US, Mission Dolores, Bernal Heights, and Baker Beach.

 🐋 POINT REYES NATIONAL SEASHORE

The Seashore features dramatic ocean breakers, sandy beaches, cliffs, cypress trees, and open grasslands.&nbsp;Point Reyes is home to over 1,500 species of plants and animals, including elephant seals and tule elk.&nbsp;It's also a top spot for whale watching - April and May is the best time to see mothers and calves close to shore. Point Reyes Station is about an hour drive from downtown San Rafael, if you continue west for another 20 miles, you'll hit the Point Reyes Lighthouse (pictured above). It's a 1.3 mile hike out and back. The earlier you leave, the better.

A long narrow inlet famous for its oyster farming - Tomales Bay Oyster Co. and Hog Island Oyster Co. are the best. This area is filled with scenic coastline, gentle beaches, and gorgeous hikes.&nbsp;&nbsp; Tomales Bay is 33 miles from downtown San Rafael and is about an hour drive.

Hitchcock aficionados will recognize this as the infamous setting for “The Birds”. Visit the schoolhouse and The Tides restaraunt.

☞  SHOULD I RENT A CAR?

The Bay Area offers a treasure trove of amazing places to explore (see "Things to Do" section), so if you would like to go on fun side quests throughout the weekend, a rental car is essential. If you do rent a car, please, please do not drink and drive....use Ubers or Lyft!&nbsp;Marin police are on constant patrol and frequently set up sobriety checkpoints, so we want everyone to stay safe. We will have shuttles to get our guests to and from the wedding and the wedding after-party, while the AC Marriott Hotel in downtown San Rafael is walking distance to where the welcome party is being held.

☞ ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED?

Due to capacity and legal restrictions at each of the venues, all wedding events are 21+ with the exception of the children in the wedding party.&nbsp;Please leave the kiddos at home.

☞  CAN I BRING MY PET?

As much as we love them, pets are not permitted at any of the wedding events so please leave your furry friends at home.&nbsp;The hotels in our wedding block are pet-friendly with advanced notice and a non-refundable pet deposit, but we wouldn't recommend leaving your fur babies alone at the hotel.

 ☞ CAN I BRING A DATE?

Unless your invitation specifically includes "&amp; Guest," plus ones are not permitted.

 ☞ WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE AT THE WEDDING?

The ceremony will start at approximately 4:00 p.m., so please arrive by 3:45 p.m.

☞  CAN I TAKE PICTURES DURING THE CEREMONY?

Please resist the urge. Just sit back, enjoy the ceremony, and leave the photos to the professionals. 🚫 📸

☞ WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

WELCOME PARTY - Friday April 11th 🎉 Dress is casual, just make sure to wear / bring layers. April in Marin can be hot by day, cold by night. It's also a good idea to plan for April showers...just in case! WEDDING - Saturday April 12th 🥂 Festive Cocktail attire. We are encouraging New Orleans Jazz Fest colors - purple, green and gold. Hats and sunglasses by day and your nice shades for the after-party! Make sure you wear / bring layers because the ceremony and much of the reception will be outdoors ...don't worry, there will be heat lamps. Please also wear / bring comfortable shoes...there will be a lot of dancing...and then more dancing! PANDAPALOOZA AFTER-PARTY 🐼 🌔 Time to bust out the boas, sparkles, and late night flare... maybe even a full costume change. Get show ready and let's dance!! 💃🕺

 ☞ WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE IN MARIN?

It's April in Marin County ... so plan for all seasons. Bring layers. Temperatures can range from 60º to 70º by day, and 40º to 50º at night. There's always a chance of spring showers, so please plan accordingly. There will be a tent provided should it rain on the wedding day.
