Katie made a friend through work who had a close group of friends all of whom had known each other for years. This friend would tell stories about them a lot and Katie grew to know those friends through her stories. Whenever they would talk or hang out she would say “Peter would do that too” or “that sounds like something Peter would say”. Which turned into “I think you should date Peter” and Katie would say “I don’t want to date your weird friend”. It happened so often that Katie tried to reverse psychology the situation and say “yeah, I’m going to fall in love with Peter and we’re going to get married”.
They threw a party at Katie‘s apartment months later and she finally met Peter. They talked for almost the whole night.
When Peter met Katie at that party, she was so bubbly, witty, and sassy that Peter wanted to spend all of his time with her.
Peter proposed to Katie‘s belated 30th birthday party. Katie knew about the birthday party, but was not allowed to help plan anything. That morning she was surprised by her dad who “flew in for the party” and “just couldn’t miss her 30th”. The party was at Peter‘s parent‘s house a few blocks away from their house and all day long Pete kept walking over to see how Katie was and what she was up to. Katie hung out with Maisie and her dad most of the day.
Towards the end of the night they were sitting outside around the campfire and Peter said “there’s one more thing” and got on one knee in front of Katie and both of their families to ask her to marry him!
The second time Peter and Katie hung out just the two of them. They were watching TV and talking and it just clicked. Katie has been whole heartedly obsessed since.
From their first date, Peter knew that Katie would be different. It was over the following year that Peter realized they would be partners forever.
Katie chose two memories, a big one and a small one.
The small memory is when they went camping together last summer, Pete, Katie, and Maisie. They had a great time on the beach and playing around the campsite and sleeping in their tent. Maisie asks all the time when they‘ll be going back.
The big memory is when they got their house! They spent quite a few late nights there working on their own projects, listening to the same podcast on separate speakers from different rooms, running over to the James Joyce for a late night cocktail, then sleeping on camping cots in the living room.
Peter’s favorite memory so far is holding hands by the camp fire while Maisie slept a few feet away in the tent.
Katie is looking forward to, though rather vague, more time together. More projects, more roadtrips, more family time, just more of it all.
Peter is looking forward to building another RAD house together!
Peter is such a good person. He is always up to help even when it’s inconvenient for him. He laughs at all Katie’s jokes, even the terrible ones. He is completely on board with any idea she is passionate about. He is always the glass half full when Katie feels half empty.
Peter loves Katie’s creativity and her passion and vision for organization. He loves her ability keep him on track.
