Q + A

Is there parking?

There is free parking on site for everyone, but we encourage carpooling.

What should I bring if I am staying at the campground?

A sleeping bag (or bedding) and pillows (the cabins have mattress pads, but no blankets or pillows). The mattresses are 6.5 feet long and 2.5 feet wide. Towels (you may want towels for the showers and for the beach). Toiletries. Flip flops for the showers. Sunscreen. Bug spray. Hiking clothes. Bathing suit. Formal attire (for the ceremony, dinner, and dancing. Dancing will be indoors). Comfy shoes (please wear heals only if they are wedges or block heels!). Portable battery (cabins do not have outlets but you will be able to charge things in Scheid Hall).

What are the sleeping arrangements like?

Free lodging at the OVY campground includes either an individual cabin or a room at Willow Lodge, which we will assign to guests. Each cabin or room includes three to eight twin-sized beds and foam mattresses (measuring 6'5'' by 2'5''). No linens or pillows are provided so please bring sleeping bags and pillows. The rooms in Willow Lodge have heating, but the individual cabins do not, so bring layers as appropriate. Check out the picture tab for more detail.

What's the bathroom situation?

Bathrooms are available in Willow Lodge, by the pool facilities, by Scheid Hall, and outside the cabins. There are individual showers separated by curtains in the co-ed bathroom by Scheid Hall. There are sex-separated showers by the pool but the showers are communal, with no curtain separation. Showers in Willow Lodge have individual curtains and are sex-separated. Toilets are all flushable and toilet paper will be provided.

Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately no.

Does OVY have trails?

Yes! Please reference the OVY Campground maps we provide on the main page of the wedding website. All the trails are circular, so you won't get lost. Be sure to bring your hiking boots and long pants (stinging nettles).

What is the OVY Campground?

The Optimist Volunteers for Youth, Inc. "OVY" is a 501c3 non-profit affiliated with Optimist International, an international service club organization with almost 3,000 clubs in more than 20 countries. In 1952, Optimist Clubs from the San Francisco Bay Area established the OVY Campground to provide underserved youth access to overnight summer camp. OVY offers youth a camp experience for only $25 per week, which is only possible from donations and funding from retreat events, such as our wedding!
