Our Wedding

It Begins

Like many relationships, Sharon and Peter's began on an app. Using the Hinge dating app, they scrolled and scrolled until July 14, 2023 when Sharon found a guy whose voice prompt detailing his plans to visit every MLB stadium caught her attention. Liking his voice prompt, she never knew he would be her first date in a new city she had moved to on the first of January of that year.

Peter, having just found clarity himself through therapy, decided now was the time to get back out there and try dating. Using Hinge, he created a profile and found the matches to be few and far between. Every date fizzled before it began, and he was losing hope. Then, on July 15th, he found he had a like. Looking at her profile, he found a woman who was both formally beautiful and causally cute and immediately felt there was something special about her. Liking her back, their conversation went from awkward to funny quickly, each response finding him liking her more and more. Within a couple days they decided on a date, bowling, and made their plans to meet up in the city.

LOVE GROWS

A first date went from two hours to four, which led to a second date and a third and on and on until 3 weeks later when Peter had to leave for a pre-planned trip to celebrate a friends birthday in Greece and Italy.

Once he came back home, their relationship grew and their love deepened to the point that Peter had to propose. On an unseasonably warm February 21st, Peter took Sharon to the Adler Planetarium where they enjoyed the stars and a walk outside where he proposed in front of the city and lake that framed their entire relationship.

As you guessed she said "YES!" and they plan to live happily ever after. Please join us to witness and celebrate the love we have in each other and our loved ones!

My sister, Jenney, has been there for me through all of my big life moments.  My first boyfriend, my first heartbreak,  graduations, the first time I got to drive solo after getting my license, every single move (including multiple apartments in a city that was 8 hours away) and of course when I met the love of my life.  I was able to witness her getting married and becoming an amazing mother to the biggest ball of energy.  I am so blessed and honored that she will be there for me as my Matron of Honor on one of the most important days of my life.

Mike has been a part of my life since we were little kids, and that relationship has only gotten stronger over the years.  Both the youngest with 2 annoying yet lovable older sisters, we became brothers in spirit and lean on each other for guidance and peace and hockey fights.  I am honored to have Mike as my best man to help guide me through the best decision of my life.

I was so nervous when I found out that Peter had two older sisters. As the oldest sister myself, I expected Adriana to be overly protective and super picky about who her little brother would be dating.  Needless to say, I was so wrong.  Not only is she kind, but she is also smart, funny, and I will be forever grateful to her for showing me a video of Peter as Jesus in his high school production of Godspell.  I am honored that she will be standing with me as I officially become a part of her family.

Chris and I have been through high school and college together, through numerous intramural basketball teams and fantasy football leagues and other stories I'm not going to mention here.  I even officiated his marriage to Bry!  Chris has been a loyal and caring friend who I am proud to call Groomsman.

Any nerves that I had about meeting Lisa went out the window the moment she commandeered Peter's phone when I FaceTimed him during a family get together.  Lisa has been nothing but kind, sweet, and loving to me from the first moment we met.  Her energy and laughter and sound advice has already made such an impact on me.  I'm so blessed that she agreed to stand with us as I officially become a Marchiafava.

Matt has been my buddy through the years beginning in high school and we have been through it all.  A friend who's just as comfortable smoking a brisket as he is working on his delts, I also presided over his wedding ceremony to his wife Jamie, and I am grateful that he agreed to join my wedding party as Groomsman.

Priya and I have only known each other for a short time and yet its like I've known her for years.  Her sense of humor, love of Michigan (Go Blue), determination, and overall strength has been so impactful in my life.   She has easily become one of my closest friends and I am truly blessed that she agreed to stand with me as I marry the love of my life.

Lamorne and I have been friends since high school and through the years our friendship has only grown.  I even forgive his belief that Lebron James is the GOAT...most of the time. I can also proudly say he got all his acting talent from watching me in our high school musicals.  I consider him family just as I do my other Groomsman and am ecstatic that he agreed to be apart of my wedding party.

What can I say about Kendra except that she's fun, loyal, caring, and a genuine smartass who I can always count on.  Though I've only known Kendra for a short time, she has become of my greatest friends.  I was able to be watch her marry the love of her life and be a part of her special day and I'm so glad that she has agreed to be a part of mine as well.

Alex is my oldest friend, having known him since middle school where we watched almost every one of the Bulls 72 victories together!  His encyclopedic knowledge of sports statistics makes him an annoyingly invaluable game watching buddy.  Always a source of joy, I am elated that he will be there with me as Groomsman.

Kanchan and I have known each other since our days galivanting around Ann Arbor.  We remained friends even as our lives took us in other directions after college.  We grew closer after I made the decision that I wanted to take a leap of faith and move to Chicago.  She gave me support without judgement during times where I judged even myself.  Her encouragement helped me find the love of my life and I'm super excited that she will be with me as I embark on this next chapter of my life.

Brian is the goofy, gallant buddy I always needed.  We've been friends since high school and he hasn't changed one bit since then, which in this case is a huge compliment!  He's always had my back when times were tough and shares in my joy every time we talk.  Having stood up in  his wedding to Betsy, I'm overjoyed that he will be a part of my wedding as well.

Brian Torney

Virginia and I have been friends for over 10 years.  We have been there for each other through ups and downs, relationship fails and successes.  I've watched her raise two beautiful daughters who have become two amazing women.  I was there when she married the love of her life and blended their two families.  Always supportive, always giving, and always such a good soul.  I am forever grateful that she will be standing with me as I marry the love of my life.

Robbie is a cousin I only recently got to know well, but I feel like we've been friends forever.  He is constantly trying to get us to move to Tampa and join his love of Tampa teams, but its just not gonna happen.  A man who is the embodiment of positivity, its tough not to love him, and his addition as Groomsman was an easy choice!

Adorable and full of energy, Hazel is the daughter of Matt and Jamie Getz and we are looking forward to having her be part of the duo of Flower Girls with Lily walking the aisle!

From the moment Ayden was born, I knew our lives were going to be forever changed.  He brings such energy, silliness, and genuine curiosity to all things in life.  As each year passes, I love that we are able to see him grow up to be an intelligent, loving and kind person.  We are thrilled that he will be protecting the symbols of commitment that we have for each other until the moment that we say "I Do".
