In July 2023 Steve began hosting friends from church for Sunday lunch. They'd gather every month or so at his house. On September 17th Steve and Pettra met at church. It just so happened that he had a gathering planned for that afternoon. So he invited Pettra and her sons Lucius and Joshua to join him and his Angolan friends at his house for Sunday lunch.

"Yes, you may date our daughter."
