Every beautiful story has a beautiful beginning…and this one is no different.

“I have found the one whom my soul loves…” - Song of Solomon 3:4

The greatest story ever told started with Genesis, and this is ours. Two hearts, each with a deep desire to love God and love people, collided shortly into their relationship with God. And as their relationships with God bloomed, so did theirs.

Peyton was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, as the oldest daughter in a family of six. She grew up in a Christian home with strong Christian values, so God always held a special place in her life. She graduated at the top of her class and received a full-ride scholarship to the University of Chicago. Upon leaving home, typical of any young adult, she struggled to keep God on the throne of her heart and began looking for love in all the wrong places. In her final year of college, she received her first job in San Francisco and later moved to Los Angeles with the desire to pursue her God-given talent for dance. It was at one of the lowest moments of her life, while pursuing her dreams, that she realized it wasn’t enough. She prayed that God would reveal Himself and His truth to her…and He did, when she met a disciple of Jesus in an Uber. The disciple shared his faith and quoted Psalm 119:1-2, and when Peyton heard him, she felt compelled to learn more about his beliefs and where he worshiped. She began to study God’s Word and realized this was an answered prayer. On November 3, 2019, she was baptized and made Jesus the Lord of her life. No longer looking for love in the wrong places, she decided to let God’s love return to its rightful place in her heart.

In the bible, before the new covenant was established God decided he would do a new thing, and this is the mark of a true believers life style; God doing new things. Every story has its up and downs while theirs was no different. Two completely different people with different mentalities, lifestyle choices and backgrounds brought together by Gods foreknowledge and wisdom. Peyton’s journey to Christ was well on its way when Solomon’s was soon to bloom, like a rose that grew from concrete.

Meanwhile, halfway across the country, Solomon was searching for the meaning of life. Also pursuing his dreams, he moved to Los Angeles in 2021. With a heart to grind and make it happen, he was a traveling artist and entrepreneur who thrived off a rich network of diverse individuals. In 2022, Solomon met a disciple from the same ministry that Peyton belonged to. Similarly, he began to study the Bible and realized he was heading in the wrong direction. After months of wrestling with God, he decided to stop chasing a perishable crown and pursue one that would last forever. On February 19, 2023, he was baptized and also made Jesus the Lord of his life.

Shortly after his baptism, Solomon joined the same small group that Peyton was a part of, and the rest is history! After noticing each other’s God-given gifts, Solomon fell in love with Peyton’s humility, her love for creativity, self-expression and the heart of a servant that she displayed. While, Peyton loved Solomon’s take charge attitude, convictions on evangelism, love, leadership and faithfulness and at that, they were drawn to each other and shared a mutual desire to pursue a godly relationship. Of course, like any other relationship there was a wrestle with renewing of the mind and they both decided to slow it down and let God work. After two years of dating God’s way, with much help, patience, love and perseverance Solomon knew he had found the one. The one whom his soul loves. On September 13, Solomon planned the most romantic proposal and surprised Peyton by flying her family in from the Midwest. And of course, she said yes! Now, they are both committing to a lifelong relationship rooted in Christ and mutual submission to God’s Word and His standard of marriage. Opposites attract couldn’t be more true for this faithful duo, but God's majesty and sovereign authority has manifested itself through God working in the hearts and minds of the Heaven bound lovers. As the story reaches its true beginning, God is still and will forever do a new thing through the two of them.
