Our Story

How we met

Picture of How we met

We met in the summer of 2021, while I just started cosmetology school and he was at a traveling job. Our first date was at Olive Garden, I remember being so nervous but Hunter instantly calmed me

Fun fact: We always told people we met when he came into the salon I worked at to get his haircut, but we actually met on Tinder lol

Engagement

We got engaged shortly after we met in December of 2021, it was the day after Christmas and he took me out to dinner. After dinner we went to downtown Tulsa at the center of the universe where I suspect he wanted to do it but there was a bunch of homeless people watching us walk so we kept walking. I remember it being so pretty because they had all their Christmas lights up downtown, eventually we walked back to the car and went to the gathering place. When we got there we kept walking and eventually stopped at the little beach they had there, where he got down on one knee. If you know anything about Hunter he is not one to express his feelings so he was very nervous and just awkwardly staring at me for a couple minutes before he started, but he said the sweetest words. Rumor has it he shed a tear or two and I said yes!!

Pregnancy

Two months after we got engaged on Valentine’s Day we found out I was pregnant with our sweet Sloanie girl. I transferred cosmetology schools and quit my job so I could go full time, while Hunter worked full time to provide for us. I went to school until the day I went into labor. Hunter made it a point to show up to every single doctors appointment, he took care of me being sick until I was 20 weeks pregnant. He truly is my rock in every aspect of life. I could not have picked a better dad for our daughter, he sets the example of what she should look for in a future husband.

Marriage

Picture of Marriage
We always wanted to have a wedding but with Hunter traveling for work and me being in school 6 days a week it made it hard to set a date. So on May 1st 2023 a random Monday, we decided to go get our marriage license and Hunter called his old youth pastor to see if he would officiate for us. He told us to come in for a counseling session beforehand, I remember sitting there listening to the pastor talking about marriage and how we should always put God before eachother. In our two years of marriage sometimes I have to sit back and remember that God is bigger than the both of us, whatever issues we are having I need to give to him. We are grateful that his pastor wanted us to have a counseling session before we just jumped with both feet in, it made our ceremony more meaningful and gives us something to think about in hard times. Now that we’ve been married for two years we want to celebrate with everyone we love and show the growth that we have both done as a couple and parents!
