A quiet night in January of 2021 led to two bored singles to start swiping on a dating app in Columbia, Missouri. Before too long, there was a match! At the time, neither of them knew that their initial attraction to each other would lead to forever, but would soon find out. Phil wasted no time sweeping Kaylie off her feet. He asked where her favorite restaurant was and he took her there for their first date. The first date was full of easy conversation and lots of laughter and has not slowed down since. The months following the first date had both Kaylie and Phil swooning for each other but soon everything was put on pause when Phil received military orders to go back home to Pittsburgh. The couple decided that they would enjoy the time they had left in Columbia and see where the long distance relationship would take them. The long distance brought lots of tears, lots of missing one another and lots of counting down the days until they could be together again, even just for a short time. One extremely long year apart ended in Phil making the ultimate decision to move to Kansas City. Knowing what this meant for their relationship, neither Phil or Kaylie could mask their enthusiasm for the big move. Living in the same city together again brought more adventures and more connection for the couple. The love that the two of them shared for one another was no secret and both of them knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Their engagement took place in Kansas City in October of 2023 and was celebrated with their loving families. Phil and Kaylie are loving their home, careers and hobbies but the feelings they have for each other is unmatched. They are grateful for their friends and family who build the solid support system around them and set an example for what true love is. Phil and Kaylie can't wait to start the next chapter of their lives together in June of 2025.

We love Kansas City! Check out some of our favorite spots that will all be walkable from the streetcar stops. River MarketThe River Market is near and dear to our hearts. If there is any place you visit in Kansas City, it has to be here! Thou Mayest on Delaware Street is a cozy coffee shop. I recommend their seasonal latte or an espresso martini. If you are an antique shopper, you'll have to check out River Market antiques for three floors of unique finds. If you are more of a history buff, the Steamboat Arabia Museum holds lots of information and artifacts from the steamboat that was recovered from the river nearby after it sank and was buried for years. On a Saturday morning, the City Market is the place to be! Although it gets very crowded, there are so many stands that sell various items like food, jewelry and plants. If you're looking for a cocktail, Brown and Loe has delicious drinks or visit Blue Line for a sports bar vibe. When you get hungry, I highly suggest Harry's Country Club (we frequent here!) or Enzo for some Italian. If you are here during breakfast or brunch, Farmhouse is the best! You will need reservations unless you have a couple hours to kill while you wait. For dessert, you have to indulge in the famous Betty Rae's ice cream. There will be a long line but it is well worth it! DowntownThere are some fun spots downtown. One of my favorites is John's Big Deck. Be prepared for many stairs, but the rooftop bar is unbeatable for views and strong drinks! Power and Light is a popular go-to, as it offers lots of bars and restaurants all in one place. We love Johnny's Tavern for food and drinks. If you're looking for some entertainment, No Other Pub has lots of games like shuffle board, bowling and beer pong. There is a picturesque indoor mini-golf place called Sinker's Lounge or you can try your hand at axe throwing at Blade and Timber. On down the street, Taps on Main is one of our favorite places for drinks and apps and if you are a beer drinker, this is the place for you! Crossroads Arts DistrictThe Crossroads is another favorite area of ours. To start, Messenger Coffee is a must for coffee and rooftop views. For eating, we recommend Buffalo State Pizza or Manny's of Kansas City for Mexican. If you're looking for a nice dinner, Rockhill Grille has delicious food and a great atmosphere. If you're needing some greasy burgers and fries, go to Town Topic. There are two locations and trust me when I say don't judge a book by its cover! For drinks, there are a TON of breweries and distilleries. Just walking around the area will give you several unique options. Up-down is a fun arcade bar and even has a rooftop. Parlor is a good spot for a variety of choices- imagine an upscale food court with a bar! Percheron on top of the Crossroads Hotel offers yummy cocktails and some of the best views of Kansas City. If you're willing to walk a bit, visit the famous Boulevard Brewery for a tour and plenty of samples. Crossroads celebrates First Friday's every month by offering free entry to several art galleries and an improv comedy club. There may be food trucks, vendors and street performers too. Crown CenterOn the south side of the downtown area is Crown Center. The building itself holds lots of entertainment for kids, unique restaurants and shopping. Right next to it is Union Station. It's worth getting a look inside to see the beautiful building. It has a huge model train display, a movie theater, laser shows and a planetarium. Up the hill from Union Station is the World War 1 museum. If you are not interested in the museum part, taking a walk up to the Liberty Memorial Tower is a must. The views of Kansas City are unbeatable and it is a special place to us as it is where Phil proposed! PlazaThe Plaza is a great place to spend time simply just walking around admiring the Spanish-style architecture. There are many stores to shop at, including some high-end retail. If you are needing dinner, we love Cooper's Hawk Winery. It is one of our favorite date spots! It wouldn't be right if we didn't mention BBQ, since Kansas City has the very best. Jack Stack is a classic Kansas City BBQ place. If you've never tried burnt ends, do it here! Rye is another great dinner spot and has one of the best espresso martinis you can find. If you are needing entertainment besides shopping, Puttery is a fun mini-golf spot that has a few courses for you to choose from and there is a nice bar inside as well.
