Phillip, a Southern California native, was stationed in Oklahoma upon joining the military, and Shelby had recently moved to Oklahoma City after accepting a job offer. It all started when Phillip liked Shelby's Hinge profile. "Rockin' those glasses, Shelby!" Phillip said. "Thanks! You look cute in yours too" Shelby replied. One coffee date turned into 100 more and the couple found themself taking turns driving 1.5 hours one-way to see each other every weekend for the next two years.

Though many days were spent apart, Phillip and Shelby kept the relationship alive through endless texts, morning voice messages, and many evenings of FaceTiming. Distance was no match for this dynamic duo. They maximized their time together on the weekends by actively getting involved in each other's lives. Activities that they once did solo became more joyful being shared with one another. Phillip became a runner (all thanks to Shelby) and Shelby became a traveler (all thanks to Phillip). These two lovers have ran the world together.

Phillip and Shelby quickly realized that their partnership was meant to last for a lifetime. Phillip and Shelby got engaged in October 2023 after she met his family and he proposed during a trip to the mountain of Big Bear, CA.

Phillip and Shelby finally closed the distance between each other when they purchased a home together in November 2023. Their early morning and late night drives are now replaced by loving on their dogs, Connect Four matches, working out together, and coffee dates no matter the hour of the day. They are joined in their home by their three fur babies Harper, Lilo, and Leef.
