It all started here: His Hill Bible School in Comfort, TX. God brought us both here to learn, grow, and, unbeknownst to us, meet each other. If you look closely, we're both in there somewhere.

Our first date, masterfully prepared and executed by Drew with an irresistibly romantic flair. Pia was wooed into agreeing to being intentionally pursued through a dating relationship.

The first goodbye as Drew left for Kansas and Pia stayed behind in Texas volunteering at Ranch Camp. Little did we know how many more painful goodbyes were to follow.

Pia left camp for one week to behold for the first time the beauty and splendor of rural Kansas and attend Alec and Ana's wedding.

Drew drove down to TX to help out with camp for a couple of weeks and spend his birthday with Pia. Pia taught him how to do a 'German Smile' which turns out to be eerily similar to an American frown. As you can tell, he quickly mastered the technique.

Upon the arrival of Drew's first trip to Germany, we went straight from the airport to a very German café. As Drew bemusedly took in the unfamiliar surroundings, Pia sat him down and gently explained to him the peculiar ways of her country.

We were able to enjoy many beautiful views together during Drew's first stay in Germany. Growing up exclusively in Kansas, castles and mountains were mythical figments until he experienced them first hand and discovered them to be a reality.

God graciously brought Pia back to Kansas for a three-week visit mere days before Covid made travel impossible. It was a very important trip as it would be over 9 months before we would see each other again.

Drew's second trip to Germany was a winter wonderland. It snowed almost every day during the two- week stay.

We took a trip to the Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria. Sadly, we couldn't go inside due to Covid, but the snowy castle created a perfectly scenic view.

The third time Drew traveled to Germany he got a taste of a season other than winter. By this time, thanks to the stringent tutelage of Pia, he had become an expert in all aspects of German culture.

Because the visa is taking its sweet time, we decided that Pia would come for a three-month visit - and she did! Her favorite part about it was growing closer to Drew's family and getting to know some of his friends.
