We first got to know each other as netball teammates. Between games and after practices, our conversations grew deeper, and something special started to take root.

Pieter finally worked up the courage to ask me out for coffee—a casual invite that turned into a marathon date lasting from after church until 00:30 the next morning! We talked about everything and nothing, and by the end of that night, we both knew this was something extraordinary.

Pieter’s compassion for people, his caring heart, and his unwavering love for God’s kingdom are just a few of the reasons I fell for him. He has this way of making you feel completely seen and cherished, and the love in his eyes is undeniable. He fights for me—for us—with everything he has, and his heart is so completely sold out for the things that matter most.

As for me (Pieter speaking now), Ziele’s small but mighty heart captured mine instantly. Her love for others, her fierce determination to protect and uplift those around her, and her desire to always promote goodness and kindness are just some of the things that make her my perfect partner. She has this beautiful way of making the world brighter.

Two years later, and we’re still each other’s favorite teammate. Whether it’s driving around with snacks and dreaming about future homes, taking long walks, or squeezing in exercise together, it’s been an incredible journey so far.
