Pipers Side of the Story:
Our story started through online dating. Phil and I matched on one of the dating websites and the rest was history. I found out that Phil was in the Marines and actually lived in Beaufort and I in Charleston, but we did not let the distance affect our meeting. One of the first times we hung out Phil told me 2 things that stuck with me. 1. He told me he wants a woman that loves the Lord. 2. He only dates to marry. He said if I was not after those 2 things then we can end this early. I sat there struck by his comment because this is what I had been praying for my entire life. About a month after meeting, I was in LA visiting my family. My dad sat me down and said there was a man named Phillip that just emailed him. My immediate reaction was, Oh my gosh, he is a creep. Why and how did he find my dads email?. Little did I know my dad has his email up on instagram so it was not that hard to find. Phil nor my dad have ever told me the contents of this email, but by the look on my dads face, he was impressed by that young man. My dad emailed him back and let me proof-read before it was sent. It was one of the most touching things I have ever heard my dad say about me. I flew back to Charleston and Phillip was waiting for me at the airport. Little did I know he had an entire plan to ask me to be his girlfriend. I got back home and he had my favorite kind of cake made which said, Will you be my girlfriend? and a vase of my favorite flowers. I was all giddy then and still am now. Phillip has never stopped doing the little things for me. He is the most thoughtful man I have ever been around (other than my dad). I met Phils family about 6 months after dating. I have always prayed to have a Christian family to marry into. His family is everything I dreamed to have one day. Mr. Peter and Mrs. Lisa welcomed me in with open arms. They make me feel like I have been a part of the family all along. One fun fact that I learned about his family is that they went to Hilton Head Island every summer for their family vacation. What is crazy to me is that my family and I had also gone to Hilton Head every summer. We could have all ran in to each other at some point when we were younger, but I am reminded that Gods timing is always perfect. Phil has been relocated to Florida, so we are making the long-distance even longer, but I am so looking forward to what the future holds and the time we will have together as husband and wife. Now I get to plan the most special day with my favorite event planner, my mom. The word Chosen has stuck with me all these years. My mom and dad first used this word when they Chose to adopt me. The Lord used this word when I Chose to be a part of His Kingdom. Phil used this word when he Chose to ask to marry me.
Phils Side of the Story:
For a while, I would’ve said that becoming a Marine was my biggest accomplishment, but after meeting Piper, I can definitely say that meeting someone as amazing as she is and having her say yes to marrying me definitely overshadows that. We actually met on Tinder which I know she hates to say, but it’s alright because we both had the right intentions. She was actually the one that reached out and messaged me first because of how attractive I am. We lived an hour and a half apart but we didn’t let that stop us talking at all.It didn’t even really take a full month of me driving up and down from Charleston to Beaufort for me to to know that she was the one I wanted to be with. Hanging out with her little family of her, Sarah, Payton, and Cowboy whether she was there or not definitely helped make the decision easier. I was so sure of this that I took the time to look for her dad’s number and when I couldn’t find it I had to resort to sending an email. She’d made it really clear early on that she thought very highly about what her dad thought so I wanted to make sure I made a good first impression. I’m still not sure if it was getting her favorite cake that made her say yes but either way it worked. The Browning family didn’t hesitate to welcome me in with open arms, and I appreciate all the love they’ve shown to me and the random phone calls from Ethan. The friends she has feels like they’ve genuinely become mine and I know she feels the same about mine. Piper is simply amazing and she shows that in so many ways just. 2 of them being how hard she works, and how hard she loves. She’s allergic to my cat and is willing to break out in hives just to give him kisses. I’ve never met somebody that has gone through so much but still is able to show so much care and understanding to others. Being in the military there’s times where I’ve had to be away and she’s just taken it in stride. Even through moving all the way down to Florida and away from the home she’s known all her life, she’s remained optimistic. I love this girl and she’s given me every reason to call her my wife and I cannot wait to see what God has in store for us.
