Piper and Kolton met as undergraduate students at Syracuse University. Piper was a sophomore studying Environmental and Interior Design and Kolton was a junior obtaining a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a minor in Construction Management. They met through mutual friends attending a men’s basketball game. Kolton and Piper sat next to each other and enjoyed cheering for the Orange and getting to know one another. One thing led to another and Kolton left that game with Piper’s phone number. He asked her on a first date the next week and the two fell in love throughout the two years they spent together at Syracuse. They dreamed of starting their own real estate business in which Kolton would build residential houses and Piper would complete their interior design. When Kolton graduated in 2022 he began a job working for a construction firm in Syracuse as a way to get experience under his belt while Piper finished her education. When Piper graduated in 2023, the couple moved in together and Piper started a job at a nearby interior design studio. Kolton proposed to Piper during halftime of Syracuse’s Men's basketball home opener of the 2024 season, and the couple began their wedding planning process shortly after.
