In July 2022, Deandrae and Priscilla were introduced by Tennille Blakemore Short (sister-in-law/friend/coworker). Tennille asked Priscilla if she would be interested in “talking” to her brother-in-law. Priscilla, who wasn’t looking for anything serious, said “Yeah, give him my number!”

After two weeks of long conversations on the phone, these two individuals agreed to meet in person. One day Deandrae, a professor driver, was working and made a stop at a local rest area. He called Priscilla and asked her to meet him at this rest area. Priscilla, hesitantly agreed to meet up with him. Priscilla was thinking to herself, “I’m not looking for anything serious.” In fact, she told him multiple times, that she would never marry again.

During a phone conversation prior to meeting up, Deandrae stated he was hungry. Priscilla drove to meet Deandrae at the rest area and brought him a nice snack (rotel and chips). Priscilla anxiously waited in her vehicle and up approached this “chocolate drop” (a handsome man) in a dark blue uniform. She rolled her tinted window down to let him know she had arrived. He proceeded to get in the vehicle and the two giggled and talked like two little kids excited to see each other for the very first time. After 45 minutes of talking, Deandrae and Priscilla gave each other a BIG hug and took a selfie to end the night.

This was just the beginning of a long lasting friendship and relationship.

After several dates of painting with a twist, dinner, trips, movies and TopGolf, on May 18, 2024, Deandrae asked Priscilla to be his wife, “Mrs. Short”. She happily said “YES”!

Deandrae and Priscilla’s love story is a true testament of what God can do when you put Him first and be guided by I Corinthians 13:4-8.

We could not be more thrilled to begin this next chapter of our life together and we are excited to celebrate our true love with family and friends on 10/4/2025!
