It is an evening of a musical extravaganza filled with fun and merriment. The sangeet is a Hindu wedding tradition that celebrates the union of two families through music and dance. The word "sangeet" comes from Sanskrit and means "sung together". The sangeet is a pre-wedding party that typically takes place one to three days before the wedding. The ceremony is filled with festive dancing, songs, and celebration. The sangeet includes traditional songs sung in unison by the elderly female members of the families. The songs are usually related to Punjabi culture and focus on the bride leaving for her parent's home. The sangeet also includes dance numbers choreographed by relatives and friends of the bride and groom to perform for the couple. There are practically no rules about who performs and how many dances they're performing. For example, the bride's parents might perform one dance together, then perform an additional dance along with the groom's parents and finish up with a final performance that includes the bride's aunts and uncles. The sangeet is a time to release stress and pent up energy to the funkiest and loudest Bollywood music. Some recommend wearing colorful and blingiest clothes and jewelry to blend in. Mehndi is a quintessential part of every Indian bride. It is an indispensable part of Punjabi weddings. It is believed that the darker the color of the mehndi, the more the groom loves the bride. Another version states that the more the future mother-in-law loves the bride. This ceremony is held a day or two before the wedding. The bride usually goes on selecting the best customized designs for herself first. She sits down on a special stool and gets mehndi (henna) paste applied to her hands and feet by mehndi artists. The groom's initials or name is also hidden amidst the intricate and elaborate patterns. Female members of the family get their mehndi applied afterward.

The Hindu Wedding ceremony starts with the Welcoming of the Groom ( Baraat). The wedding ceremony is performed beneath a decorated wedding altar “Lagna Mandap” which is represented by four pillars denoting our Parents. The Ceremony is performed in English and Sanskrit, the world’s most ancient surviving language. The ceremony consists of: Kanyadan - Offering of the bride to the groom Hast Melap - Acceptance of the bride from the Groom Mangal Pheras - The couple walks around the sacred fire four times, symbolizing the walk of life. The four rounds signify their journey together to attain Dharma (duty), Artha (wealth and prosperity), Karma (fulfillment of worldly desires), and Moksha (spirituality and salvation).
