VISA REQUIREMENTS

US Citizens and EU Citizens are required to get an Indian visa before their travel to the country. You can apply online, the visa is a quick download via your email once approved. You will need to print that approved visa document and travel with it. Make sure to have it before you board your flight from your country. They will not let you fly if you dont have a visa.

Printing the document is very important since Indian authorities at the airport in India may reject a digital copy.

They have been known to charge upwards of a thousand dollars to print at customs, so please, HAVE A PRINTED COPY

There are a lot of websites to get your visa from, but the government recommends the website below. The visa fee should not be more than $50 per application.

People should request a 1 year validity for the visa, regardless of if you've ever been to India or not. The application tends to ignore your arrival dates and just gives you a visa from the date of the approval, lasting 1 year. You should apply for the visa sooner rather than later to make sure the approved dates are within your travel dates. Approval takes 3-5 business days. You can always contact their support line for any questions.

Refer to the drive link below for reference info in India and a visa walkthrough video.

Maharana Pratap Airport, Udaipur

JV9R+X32, NH 76, Dabok, Rajasthan 313022, India

This is the preferred airport to fly into. This is a domestic airport so you will have connecting flights through 3 major international airports- Delhi, Mumbai, or Bangalore. It is a short 1-1.5 hour flight from these major international airports into the Udaipur airport.

We will have the hotel transport guests to and from the hotel and Udaipur airport.

FAQ

when should we book our flights?

The recommended timeline is 6-8 months before the travel dates.

What days should we plan to fly in and out?

Guest should arriving at the hotel by the afternoon of Thursday, Feb 13. New Delhi & Mumbai airport hotels are recommended if you have a long layover and want to break up the journey. There is an optional lunch for the guests who arrive earlier, but the first event will start at 8pm (Welcome Night). Check-out is Sunday, Feb 16 at 12pm so please plan your further travels accordingly. Wedding nights tend to go on till 3-4am so we do not recommend an early flight Sunday.

Which airlines would you recommend?

Personally, we love Delta. We like the route that has a layover in Europe so it breaks up the journey into 2 8-hour flights. Some people are normal and hate layovers, unlike Punya, so we recommend checking out direct flights from NY, if you're on the east coast. Our friends have had great experiences with Emirates, Etihad, Airfrance, KLM, United, Virgin Atlantic, and British Airways.

Do we need any vaccinations/medications before travel?

There are no vaccinations required but we recommend to call your primary care or a travel clinic to help with the journey.
