FAQ

We know you will have questions. The Q&A list will continue to grow, so please check back for updates of information.

Currency exchange

Both USD and IDR (Indonesia Rupiah) are accepted in Bali. However, HK banks do not hold IDR. We brought USD and exchanged at local money exchangers in Bali. (Or simply ask your domestic helper LOL)

Sim card & roaming

You may consider buying a Data Sim-Card for Indonesia. Or you can also buy a Sim-Card at DPS airport after immigration. Roaming via HK Smartone was a hit and miss for us. We found internet speed to be slower.

Travel VISA?

Tourists entering Bali are required to purchase a Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) which covers travel in Indonesia for up to 30 Days. It costs IDR500.000 (approx. AUD48/ CAD45/ HKD260/ USD33). Only 10 countries are can enter visa free to Bali and AU/ CA/ HK/ UK/ US/ TW passports are not one of them.

Local transportation tips

Download and use "Grab" where possible or consider to arrange a local driver for day trips. Airport was a Grab blind spot, but indicated price on Grab serves as benchmark for negotiation with local driver.

Local taxes & surcharge

GST is 21%, denoted by "++", unless otherwise stated as "net".

language needs

Balinese are fluent in English, a friendly and hospitable bunch.

Gift Registry

Your presence is our biggest gift so we do not have a gift registry, this also saves on everyone's luggage space. Of course red pockets are graciously accepted.
