Our Story

His and Her Versions

🤍 Her Story

In 2017, at Style Fitness, I was there to get in shape, clear my mind, and win the challenge. What I didn’t expect was to meet my best friend and the love of my life. During a workout, I mentioned to my workout buddy, Kristin, that I needed a fourth golfer for a scramble I played in every year. She casually suggested a guy she worked with who loved golf and would be perfect. Around that same time, I had started kickboxing classes, fully focused on punching things hard while one very chatty guy seemed far more interested in talking to the instructor than working out. Little did I know, that chatterbox was the very man I was being set up with.

Once we finally exchanged numbers, Brett suggested we grab a couple of drinks before the golf scramble. That plan led us to Tavern 180, where a few drinks somehow turned into a couple of bottles of wine and a night I definitely didn’t want to end. Just days later, Brett planned our second date, packing a small charcuterie spread and two of my favorite bottles of wine before picking me up for Jazz on the Green. He confidently arrived with a blanket clearly meant for one person, leaving him mostly on the grass while I stayed cozy. Honestly, it was perfect.

By the time the golf tournament arrived, we were already several dates into something special. The day was spent with my best friends, Laura and Jimmy, who quickly welcomed Brett into our little group. From then on, golf became our thing, a favorite way to slow down, laugh, and just be together. That same year included Laura’s birthday camping weekend and Brett’s very first Costco trip to prepare for it. Between the tent, the air mattress, and a lot of laughter (including Brett sending me airborne), we made one of my favorite memories.

Not long after, our families came together and instantly felt like one. From a bowling trip where Isabelle talked my head off in the bathroom, to a visit to Vala’s filled with chants of “girls rule, boys drool,” those moments made it impossible to imagine life any other way. We quickly fell into our tradition of yearly vacations, making sure each child gets a trip of their dreams. We live for sports, adventure, and nonstop laughter and through challenges, disagreements, and countless caring moments, we’ve always moved forward together as one family. Along the way, I didn’t just find the man of my dreams, I watched my son find the father he truly deserved. 🤍

I’ve been lucky enough to spend nearly every day with the man I fell in love with on that first date. Now, I get to marry him for a lifetime… well, at least 40 years, and I can’t wait to see where our story takes us next. 🤍

🤍 His Story

I first met Rachael in 2017 at Style Fitness. She was there with focus and determination, working hard every class. I was there mostly to socialize and pretend to sweat. After one class, I watched her channel her frustrations into a punching bag, and I finally worked up the courage to walk over and say hello. She could not leave that gym fast enough.

So, I was pleasantly surprised when I later received a message inviting me to golf in a tournament with her great friend Jimmy and his wife Laura. I didn’t hesitate to say yes, and I was even more excited knowing I’d get to see her again. Our first official date was at Tavern 180 where we shared a lot of laughs and even more wine! For our second date, I intentionally chose a blanket that was just a little too small at Jazz on the Green. I made sure to order her favorite wines and cheeses. The nights passed quickly, filled with easy conversation, nonstop laughter, and the kind of connection you don’t want to end.

Our first out-of-town date was an unforgettable U2 concert in Kansas City, complete with my brilliant idea of driving back the same night. From there, it was clear we shared so many of the same loves, especially golfing, traveling, and simply being together.

As our relationship grew, our families naturally blended. In a moment that still makes me smile, our very first family meeting involved Rachael helping one of my daughters in the bathroom which was quite the introduction. From that point on, we began building a life full of memories. Every photo from the last eight-plus years tells the story of how deeply our family loves one another.

We work hard. We stay busy. We’re always on the move. We love eating out, traveling, and chasing new adventures. We support each other. We drive each other crazy. We laugh. We cry. We are a family.

Now, we’re so excited to add wedding photos to the memories and vows that will close the first chapter of our story and begin the next together for the rest of our lives. We are incredibly grateful to share this moment with the family and friends who mean the world to us. 🤍

Wedding Party

Laura Boese - Matron of Honor
I met Laura at Stokes around 2009. At the time, she wasn’t really accepting new friends, but I persisted and eventually made her like me. I even made the backup list for her wedding party… though sadly no one dropped out, so I attended as a very supportive and drunk guest. Thankfully, her hard shell didn’t last long, and she became one of my very best friends. We truly enjoy everything together, golfing, dinner dates, CWS, dancing, and, honestly, just finding reasons to hang out. Laura and her husband Jimmy are two amazing people, and Brett and I love every minute we get to spend with them.
Audrey Kittoe - Bridesmaid
I met Audrey at Stokes around 2012, and we quickly became friends. She has the best dry humor, loves country music, and somehow also enjoys the most random, unexpected songs. We’ve made plenty of memories at random concerts and music events together. In 2014, when I bought my first home, Audrey moved into my basement and helped me more than she probably knows, with Ben, the house, and my sanity during single-mom life. We spent many wine nights scrolling through Omaha singles trying to find the future Mr. Audrey, and she definitely learned to appreciate my thank-you notes. Somewhere along the way, she stopped being a roommate and became a sister. She was soon adopted into the family and has attended several Christmases with us. She’s my ride-or-die and always there to help with anything and everything. Some call her the dessert queen as she loves to bake and has provided treats for just about every event I’ve had. I’m so lucky to have her by my side today and in life.
Allison Hill - Jr. Bridesmaid
I met Allie in 2017 when she was just a tiny 4-year-old who loved cuddle time, huge laughs, and being my little mini. From the very beginning, she brought so much joy into my life, and we quickly discovered we shared a love of shopping and dressing up. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of watching her grow into a smart, funny, kind, and beautiful young lady. Becoming her stepmom has been one of the greatest gifts of my life, and I’m so proud to officially call her my daughter. I couldn’t imagine this day without her standing beside me.
Naomi Bowman - Jr. Bridesmaid
Naomi is my new niece and is such a beautiful young girl. When I first met her, she was very shy, but she let me in once she discovered how many dress-up princess items I had at home. I always made sure I had something ready for her whenever she came over, and it was priceless to see the smile on Naomi’s face when she transformed into a princess. Since then, I’ve loved watching her grow into a smart, kind, and fun-loving girl with the sweetest personality. She always brings smiles, laughter, and a little extra sparkle wherever she goes. Getting to officially call myself her aunt means so much to me. Having her share this special day with us makes it even more meaningful.
Taylor Hill - Flower Girl
Taylor, my niece, has a smile big enough to light up a room and a tiny voice that instantly melts everyone around her. From the moment she walks in, she brings energy, laughter, and a little sparkle. She loves dressing up in heels and princess clothes and never misses an opportunity to feel fancy. She also has a strong love for makeup, and maybe someday she’ll actually keep it inside the lines! Whether she’s playing dress-up or dancing in circles, she always makes everyone around her smile. Having her walk down the aisle will make the day even more special for me. I’m so happy to officially be her aunt.
