Danny and Rachel first crossed paths in 2006, when Rachel made a new friend in 6th grade, Christina. Christina and Rachel started having lots of play dates and Rachel quickly met Christina’s older brother, Danny.
Rachel was 11, and just entering what would become the longest awkward phase ever. Danny was 14, and just wanted to vibe on Xbox with death metal blasting through his closed bedroom door - this was not just a phase.
Needless to say, Rachel wanted nothing to do with Danny for quite some time.
Rachel spent a lot of days and nights at the DeSimone residence, and eventually she realized Danny wasn’t as scary as he pretended to be.
Eventually, 2009 rolled around. Rachel was now a freshman in high-school, and Danny was a senior. Rachel was wearing purple skinny jeans regularly to class, and Danny was sporting hot pink head phones (and an arm cast), still blasting death metal to the point where everyone in the hallway could hear it. Neither was best dressed, and Danny was still trying to scare people off.
However, a friendship of sorts was slowly brewing- thankfully, neither saw each other as “a little sister” or an “older brother.”
Years would go by without much interaction, but eventually in 2017 Rachel would graduate college and sport one of her greatest Halloween costumes (Uma Thurman’s yellow jump suit from Kill Bill). Danny, (huge movie buff), couldn’t help himself. He saw a photo of Rachel on social media and had to let her know how “sick” he thought the costume was. Classic sliding- into-the-DMs move.
Anyway, there was a rekindling of communication, but something was different this time. Butterflies and heart eyes, the love bug had bitten them both - but was this love forbidden? Rachel and Danny weren’t sure how to act on their feelings. What would Christina think?
Luckily, she took the news really well - and Rachel and Danny have been together since. It was finally the right time.
Since then, they’ve shared 7 years (and counting) together. They’ve had birthdays together, holidays together, vacations together, the occasional lovers quarrel together... but on September 29, 2024 Danny proposed to Rachel in Aruba (talk about one happy island), and they are FINALLY sealing the deal October 24, 2026.
