Our Wedding

Every love story has its timeline. Here’s how we went from two friends in 2022 to planning a wedding in 2026! Our story didn’t begin the day we met, it started years earlier in the same Oregon hometown, walking the same school halls without ever realizing it! We both happened to moved to Washington 10 years ago, unknowingly following parallel paths.

The first time we actually met was at Day Trip Music Festival in Seattle on August 7th, 2022 — thanks to our mutual friend Isaiah! What started as music, dancing, and lots of laughs quickly turned into an instant connection filled with surprisingly deep conversations. We both remember feeling an immediate pull toward each other, the kind where talking felt effortless and so much time passed without us noticing. Even then, we each walked away thinking the same thing... wow, this person is really special.-Over the next year, a very deep and special friendship grew. Even though Jack lived a little over an hour away in Enumclaw, he still ended up stopping by Rachel’s apartment in Seattle 2–3 times a week, usually claiming that he “just so happened” to be in the area for work... which Rachel later learned wasn’t entirely the truth ;) . We spent so much time together and always looked forward to the next chance to see each other. What started as a friendship had already become one of the most important parts of both of our lives.

August 7, 2022 — First Met

About a year later, we took a trip together (as friends) to visit our good friends Maura and Jake in Chicago which was where everything quietly shifted. Jack had been harboring feelings for Rachel for months, and Rachel had been trying (not very successfully) to ignore her own. One night, we all went out dancing, and something changed.-Rachel had always seen these qualities in Jack, but something about that night made them stand out in a whole new way. Jack's sincerity, his kindness, and the way he treated everyone with such respect and warmth, even when no one was watching, really stood out to her. The way he showed up for others and how he spoke about her made Rachel's heart melt. That was the night she finally admitted to herself that she liked Jack as more than just a friend.

July 30, 2023 — Chicago

Coming home from Chicago, everything felt more clear and a little bit undeniable. Jack had known how he felt for a long time, and Rachel was finally letting herself accept that she felt the same. Although, she was nervous because Jack felt like such a perfect match. Admitting she liked him meant fully stepping into the reality that “this is it," and that was scary for her. Even though Jack had never technically said how he felt, Rachel had known for a while.-Around that time, Rachel really wanted to take a trip to see one of her favorite artists, Tash Sultana, perform. Jack couldn’t wait to go experience it with her. They traveled all that way only for the concert to be canceled because of wildfire smoke— and for some reason, that was Rachel’s breaking point after holding on to so many unspoken feelings. After some frustrated tears over the cancellation and a few glasses of wine, Rachel finally gathered the courage to tell Jack she had feelings for him. Jack, who had been waiting and hoping for that moment for a long time, was over the moon. And from there, the two of them began navigating this new realm together— friends who had finally admitted they liked each other as more than friends.

August 27, 2023 — “I Like You”

We had gone on countless “friend dates” exploring Seattle, but this was our first official date as something more— which was both exciting and a little surreal to shift into. Jack planned a special night at a new rooftop bar in the city and then surprised Rachel with an experience at Wings Over Washington, a ride near the pier that makes you feel like you’re flying over iconic Pacific Northwest landscapes through motion seats, wind effects, and huge panoramic scenes. It was fun, lighthearted, and completely playful— the kind of date where we laughed nonstop and felt like kids again.

Sept 15, 2023 — First Date

After our friend Kendall’s wedding, everything shifted in the sweetest way. We went to the wedding “sort of together but not together,” taking things slowly and letting things unfold naturally. We even made a little pact: Jack wouldn’t officially ask Rachel to be his girlfriend until she kissed him first.-Between the familiar faces, the celebration, and Jack spending time with Rachel’s parents, the night felt especially meaningful. After the reception, Jack drove Rachel back to her parents’ home, and instead of saying goodnight, we took a little walk to the park nearby. Sitting together on a park bench, giggling and recapping the night, Rachel leaned in and finally kissed Jack.

Sept 23, 2023 — First Kiss

A few days later, Jack made Rachel dinner at her apartment. After they finished eating, he told her he had a surprise and asked her to close her eyes. Knowing Rachel’s love for The Bachelor, Jack had brought a dozen roses for her. He placed one rose in her hand and shared a heartfelt speech about his feelings for her and how much she meant to him. Then he said, “I want to ask if you will accept this rose… but this rose needs a vase.”-He pulled out a large Aquafina bottle and asked, “Do you recognize this at all?” Rachel shook her head confused. Jack explained that it was the water bottle she had given him on September 23, 2022 — the very first night they ever hung out as friends. He had an hour-plus drive back to Enumclaw, and before he left, Rachel said, “Wait! Let me give you a water bottle for your drive home in case you get thirsty!” and pulled out this giant Aquafina water bottle.-Jack told her he had kept that bottle in his car for an entire year — because for some reason, something in him said not to throw it away. To him, it was the moment he first felt truly cared for by her, a small gesture that meant so much more than she ever realized. He placed the rose inside the bottle, symbolizing how meaningful that moment was, and asked Rachel to be his girlfriend.

Sept 28, 2023 — It's Official

We finally said “I love you” for the first time at our friend Maya’s Halloween party. We were dressed as Vinny and Snooki from Jersey Shore and slipped outside for a quiet moment together on the side of her house. Jack was looking at Rachel in a specifically sweet way— and Rachel asked, “What are you thinking about right now?” Jack smiled, shook his head, and said, “Nothing.” Rachel laughed and said, “I already know what you’re thinking — I think you should say it.” That’s when Jack told her he loved her, and Rachel told him she loved him too. Saying “I love you” while dressed as Jersey Shore characters still makes us laugh.-From there, everything unfolded naturally through so many big life moments — all leading up to our beautiful engagement.

Oct 21, 2023 — “I Love You”

We got engaged in Chicago, the city where we first fell for each other. Jack always knew he wanted to propose in the place where everything began to change. It was a complete surprise — Rachel had no idea! (She has a track record of spoiling surprises long before they happen). This time, Jack won :)-We flew back to Chicago in the summer to visit our friends Maura and Jake, along with our friend Lucas. Jack had been planning the proposal for months with every detail set, except the unexpected weather. The original plan was to go out on a boat that Maura pretended she rented and Jack would propose there, but the weather looked awful. On the night we flew out, the storm was so bad that our plane couldn’t land and we were rerouted to Minneapolis overnight. Jack was secretly panicking inside.-The next morning, we finally made it to Chicago. At the airport, Rachel noticed Jack acting very unlike himself — skipping the usual vacation airport mimosa and disappearing to the bathroom multiple times an hour. (Later, we learned he was texting the boat captain and practicing his proposal speech!)-Once in the city, we spent some time at Jake and Maura’s house before heading to the boat. Since we almost always do some kind of water activity when we visit Chicago, Rachel didn’t think anything of it. Miraculously, the sky cleared up for the exact two hours we were scheduled to be on the water. It turned into the most perfect day!-When we boarded, we met the captain and two additional “crew members” who were actually undercover photographers. They casually mentioned taking a group photo at the front of the boat later, which sounded totally normal to Rachel. We spent the afternoon on the boat listening to music, taking in the views, laughing, and enjoying the sunshine. Meanwhile, Jack was unusually quiet and kept saying things like, “Ahhh, Chicago. Where it all started, huh?” and kept smiling in disbelief at the perfect weather.-Toward the end of the ride, one of the crew members asked if we wanted to take a group photo. We all walked to the front of the boat, took the group shot, and then the crew member offered to take photos of the 2 couples and of Lucas. Maura and Jake went first, Lucas went second, and then it was our turn.-After snapping a few pictures, Rachel saw the crew member give Jack a thumbs-up. Jack turned toward her and began his proposal speech. Rachel instantly realized what was happening and went into complete, joyful shock. She looked back to see her friends recording the moment, all smiling and cheering. Jack continued his sweet speech (which Rachel made him repeat later because she blacked out), got down on one knee, pulled out the ring, and asked her to marry him. Rachel said yes!!-We celebrated on the boat with champagne, laughed about all the “signs” Rachel had missed, and then spent the rest of the night out in Chicago dancing and celebrating with our friends.-All of these moments have led us here — planning our wedding in Mexico, surrounded by the people we love most, and stepping into the next chapter of our story :)

We have an exclusive room block just for our guests, through our Travel Concierge, Lori Hepp at Playa Bella Weddings and Travel! Lori will be your go-to girl for everything travel related. Her contact information is shown on our booking site. Our resort is the beautiful Dreams Los Cabos all inclusive resort. This means, all meals, snacks, drinks (alcoholic and non), onsite entertainment, non motorized watersports and gratuity are included in your stay! Round trip airport shuttle service is included as well. *Please note: the shuttle driver gratuity is not included, so please feel free to offer a gratuity to your driver. All travelers to Mexico must have a valid US passport that remains valid for 6 months after your return flight. If you need assistance renewing or applying, please reach out to Lori for guidance. We've held various room categories at Dreams, so there will be something that fits for everyone! Please be sure to book early to ensure your desired room category and dates. All rooms must be booked no later than May 15, 2026 - but we encourage you to get booked much sooner than that! Upon booking, a $350 per person deposit will be due. Partial payments/payment plans are welcome after initial deposit, with the final payment due no later than July 20, 2026. Reservations are non refundable, and Lori will quote you optional travel/cancellation insurance at your request. We highly suggest looking into this option! Once you complete the registration form on the link below, your form will be sent to Lori and she will manually create your reservation. All confirmations/invoices will be sent to your email, so please use an email address that get's checked frequently! Once you receive your resort confirmation from Lori, please feel free to book your air into the Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (SJD) airport!
