Our Wedding

"Our story" began on November 1st, 2019. After meeting on Hinge, an online dating app, we decided to meet each other in person at Agave, a Mexican restaurant in Manhattan. Mike arrived promptly at 8pm at the correct location in Murray Hill. Rachel went to a different Agave in the West Village 20 minutes away. Determined to meet her future husband, she re-routed the Uber and let Mike know she was running late. We stayed until closing and haven’t left each other’s thoughts or sides since. After dates all over New York City and a lot of texts and calls, we officially started ”dating” – referring to each other as boyfriend and girlfriend – on Saturday, January 25th, 2020. Five years to the day, we spent our afternoon picking out our wedding rings. We’re looking forward to celebrating our new anniversary on June 28th! One month after we started dating, we hit the ground running and went to Jamaica for four nights to celebrate. Some people thought we were crazy for going on a big trip together so soon after we met. Given the world shut down two weeks later, looking back we think we made the right decision! To put 2020 in a rare positive light, the rest of the year gave us an incredibly unique opportunity for us to strengthen our relationship. We each spent three months at our parents’ houses, away from each other. Mike was on Long Island, and Rachel was in New Jersey. We had dates over FaceTime, spoke every day, and texted constantly. We decided to move back to NYC in June because we didn’t want to spend any more time apart. We worked at Mike’s in Murray Hill during the week and spent the weekends at Rachel’s apartment in the East Village that turned into our vacation home. We realized that even though it seemed like the city and the world around us was falling apart, we were both the happiest we’d ever been. After our “formative year” in 2020, we moved into our first apartment together in April 2021, officially becoming Upper East Siders. It’s still our home today! From 2021 until today, we’ve spent our time exploring everything New York City has to offer, spending time with our families and friends, and traveling. We’ve touched down in Italy and France, California and the Caribbean, and in Ohio way more times than Mike ever signed up for. Fast forward to March 29th, 2024, Mike decided to tell Rachel they were meeting Mike’s family for lunch at The Boathouse in Central Park. That…was a lie. Mike proposed and Rachel obviously said yes a million times over! If you’ve read down this far, you know that everything we’ve experienced over the last five years have set the wheels in motion for the rest of our lives. For those flying in, flying into Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is recommended. It should be a 30 minute drive depending on traffic via Uber/Lyft. You can also take the AirTrain from EWR to NJ Transit.
