Our Story

We love each other so much, and we're so excited to get married. But we also know it will not come easy. Marriage takes work. We are human, and we fail, but God has done the work to redeem us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus died on the cross and suffered for our sins in our place so that our brokenness can be healed. By beating death and raising to life, He has given us hope for eternal life. We believe & trust that Jesus suffered for our sins, and so, we are changed. It affects how we see and react to each other's flaws. Christ chose us in spite of our sins, so Rachel and I choose each other in spite of our past and future trespasses. It's what grounds our relationship and how we know we can confidently choose each other.

Rachel & I met in March of 2022 and became friends over the next few months. For my 23rd birthday, a group of friends went on a hike at Roan Mountain. Both of us were interested in each other at this point, but by the end of the night, we both thought the other wasn't interested. I pondered if I should ask Rachel on a date. What I didn't know at the time was that Rachel was patiently waiting for me to ask her out. I was oblivious - but God was not.

Rachel loves clouds and sunsets, so I sent her several cloud & sunset photos that I found in my travels. I had a chat with my good friend Jackson at a wedding and finally realized I needed to ask Rachel out. Well, no duh, Christopher!

Right after the wedding, I asked God to open an opportunity to ask Rachel on a date. The opportunity came in the parking lot right after work. Rachel says, "Of course, I'll go on a date with you!"

Rachel and I had a lovely date a few days later and watched the sunset over the mountains. All I could think was "I cannot believe how Godly, grounded, truthful, bold, faithful, and gorgeous Rachel is... could we do this again?" This was the first selfie we took together.

After a month of dating, we made it official. I took Rachel on a mystery date blindfolded! However, I quickly learned Rachel does not love to be blindfolded. Rachel quickly learned she was dating a helpless romantic.

Right after Thanksgiving, I met the Brown family. I realized there's a possibility of redeeming the Kenyon line from shortness with Rachel's tall family genetics. It was also on this trip that Rachel's older brother Gene gave her the thumbs up of brotherly approval.

Through my job, I travel around the world for much of the year. So Rachel & I spent a chunk of time on video calls during those trips. I always asked for a screenshot before the call ended because Rachel is too cute not to screenshot :)

I planned on surprising Rachel by proposing earlier than I has suggested to Rachel. By this point, we both went through pre-engagement counseling and grew tremendously from it. We were ready to commit to each other in marriage!

I proposed to Rachel at a Christmas tree farm with some of our best friends present. Much like when I asked her on our first date, Rachel said, "Of course!" before I could even finish. A few days after proposing, our families all met in Pennsylvania at Rachel's house. We are ready to get married! Can it come soon enough?
