Rachel and Daryl’s story began in February 2020 when they met as coworkers at Lovelace Hospital. Daryl was immediately drawn to Rachel’s personality and sense of humor, and his early attempts to get her attention included offering gum and candy. His efforts paid off, and he convinced Rachel to go out with him. Just two days later, the COVID-19 lockdown began, but the challenges of the pandemic didn’t stop them from getting to know each other better through long phone calls and shared conversations.

Daryl and Rachel quickly grew close to each other's friends and families, enjoying regular Sunday dinners with each other's families that became a cherished tradition. Early on, Rachel had a feeling that Daryl might be the one, but his cooking skills sealed the deal. Over the years, their relationship grew through shared adventures and quiet moments at home with their three dogs—Cinnamon, Penny, and Pebbles—cherished members of their little family.

On March 9, 2024, after a brunch with Rachel and her family, Daryl surprised her by proposing. The moment almost didn’t stay a surprise when Rachel’s dad asked, “Is he going to do it?” Despite the slip, the proposal was heartfelt and memorable.
