Our Wedding

Kade and I met in our sophomore year of high school at a mutual friend's pool party. We then spent our remaining high school years in the same circle of friends, hanging out every so often. Kade claims to have had a crush on me and tried to talk to me on several occasions (but to no avail). Little did he know I thought he was too cool for me and was too nervous to talk to him. After graduation, before the start of college, we went on a vacation to Gulf Shores with a group of friends. On this vacation, Kade and I got to know each other better and went on our first date a few days after we got back. A month later, it was time to split ways and head off to college, Kade was going to Trinity University in San Antonio and I was attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. We made the decision that even though we had only been dating a month, we were going to stay together (turns out this was the best decision we could have made). Shortly after, we fell in love and Kade came to join me at Oklahoma State. It did not take long for me to realize I wanted to spend my life with Kade and though I very impatiently waited for the proposal, it was well worth the wait. We are so excited to start our life together and will be moving to Colorado to begin working in the summer of 2017.

My roommate and now Maid of Honor, Ashton, suggested taking a weekend camping trip to New Mexico with our significant others. After some convincing to drive 9 hours, I agreed it would be fun. On the ride there, we "discovered" that there was a hot air balloon festival happening that weekend in Albuquerque (they knew this the whole time), so we decided to go. In order to beat the traffic, we woke up at 4:30 am to make the 7 am mass hot air balloon ascension time and started our trek there. It was cold and raining so we were all snuggled up in our blankets waiting for the balloons to go up. As we waited, Kade snuck away to set up the proposal. Due to the weather, the hot air balloon ascension was delayed for quite some time. Ashton, her boyfriend, and I walked around the shops in the mean time. The whole time I am wondering where the heck Kade went and why won't he answer my calls. Then after and hour and a half, Kade calls me and tells me to meet him. As we hang up, they announce the balloons are starting to going up. When I got to Kade he was standing there wearing a suit jacket and his charming smile with scattered rose petals on the ground. I realize what is happening and Ashton takes my hot chocolate and blanket away as I walk up to him. He takes my hand and starts his speech, meanwhile I am so excited I can barely concentrate. A photographer takes our picture in the moment and of course, I said yes! Then, we got to watch the balloons, eat good food, and hang around in New Mexico for the rest of the day. I am still impressed with how well he planned everything out and kept it all a secret.
