Jekyll Wheels is situated on the Jekyll Island Club Resort. They operate daily from about 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 or 5:00 p.m., (weather permitting).
Jekyll Island has over 20 miles of paved bike paths, winding through lush maritime forests, along salt marshes, historic cottages, beaches, and scenic riverfronts.
Recommended Routes (starting from Jekyll Wheels):
-Historic District Loop (~0.2 miles / 5 min): Pass by Hollybourne Cottage, Villa Ospo, Villa Marianna, and near the Club Resort’s iconic lawn.
-Driftwood Beach (~4.6 miles / 23 min): Follow the scenic North Loop for forest and marsh views before arriving at the sun-bleached driftwood shoreline.
-Horton House or Fishing Pier (3–5 miles): A peaceful ride through maritime forest, with engaging stops along the way.
Relax near the river’s edge at the Jekyll Island Club pool, complemented by food and beverage service seasonally from the Pool House.
Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island is not your typical stretch of sand—it’s a mesmerizing, almost otherworldly shoreline formed from what used to be a thriving maritime forest.
Over decades of erosion and saltwater exposure, the trees have weathered into sculptural driftwood forms—some standing, others fallen—a haunting backdrop that’s perfect for exploring, photography, or just soaking in coastal serenity.
When to go: Plan around low tide for full visibility of the driftwood formations—the high tide can wash over most of them
