Rachel and Matt first met in passing during their freshman year at Clemson University. Their friendship took shape and began to blossom not long into their second year – it was on their sophomore spring break in Asheville (s/o “Deliverance fam”) when they started crushing on one another. Matt asked Rachel to his college formal where they hit it off! The rest of that year was full of functions, late nights in the library, and dates around town. Matt formally asked Rachel to be his girlfriend in fall of 2016, and they have been together ever since!

After college graduation (May 2018), Matt stayed in Clemson for his graduate studies and Rachel moved down to Charleston, SC to follow a career in health care. This began a long bout with long distance as Rachel pursued her graduate degree and Matt began his career in Charlotte, NC. They spent countless hours on i77, working to soak up as much quality time as they could.

After four long years, Rachel moved to Charlotte in August 2022 to begin her career as a PA and the long distance was over! They got engaged in May of 2023 at one of their favorite walking spots in their Charlotte neighborhood, followed by a cozy celebration with family and close friends.

They have recently relocated to Charleston, SC with their cat, Mango. They love living by the coast and being close to friends and family.

They are so looking forward to celebrating their wedding with their loved ones in Asheville, NC this fall! Asheville is where they first fell in love, where they celebrate their anniversary, and most notably where Rachel’s late father, Brian, grew up.
