Nich and Rachel met through the Young Adult program at Crossings Community Church. Though they had crossed paths before in Sunday school several times, it wasn’t until they hung out at the volleyball courts that they truly made a connection. Nich asked Rachel on a date to one of his favorite coffee shops. They had a strong connection and both expressed interest in developing their relationship. The following week Nick left for his PCS in South Carolina. Despite the challenges posed by the distance, they managed to make their relationship work through consistent phone calls and occasional visits whenever possible.

Nich returned home from South Carolina, which provided Rachel and Nich with the opportunity to cherish precious moments together. They were able to enjoy various activities such as going on dates, traveling, and spending quality time with their families and friends. This period spent together served to deepen and strengthen their relationship.

Later that year, Nich and Rachel had the opportunity to travel to Colorado Springs to visit a friend. Little did Rachel know, Nich had crafted an extraordinary surprise for her during their vacation. Prior to the trip, Nich had been sharing with Rachel about the camp grounds he had previously frequented during his time at the Air Force Academy. He expressed his desire to visit the camp during their vacation, prompting Rachel to suggest having their photos taken there by one of her best friends Dani, who lives in Colorado.

With the arrangements made for Nich, Rachel, Leah, Zach, Scott, and Dani to visit the camp grounds, Nich was confident that all the pieces were falling into place. Some days later, they paid a visit to the camp grounds, strolling around and indulging in the natural beauty that Colorado has to offer. As Dani began taking photos, Nich guided Rachel towards a bridge that spanned over a lake. It was there that he knelt down on one knee and professed his deepest affection for Rachel. Filled with excitement, she joyfully responded, Yes!.

Nich planned a truly special proposal and they are both incredibly grateful for the support and assistance provided by their friends and families throughout the planning and execution of this memorable day.
