With Rachel working in a predominately female field and Mike working with mostly men, their only chance of meeting someone was to turn to modern dating and swipe right into each others hearts. Rachel was fed up with the disappointment that was online dating and about to delete the app while Mike had just redownloaded the app. Thankfully, the two matched right before she deleted the app and hit it off right away.

Mike asked Rachel on a date and on 9/1/19, and took her to The Durty Bird. When the two left the bar, they caught the firework show in the distance at the Fifth Third Field. After having the best date where the conversation flowed and smiles and laughter were nonstop, the two knew they had something special. On 9/19/19, Mike asked Rachel to be his girlfriend.

Fast forward to a month before the pandemic began when Rachel moved in…where the pair quickly went from living separately to experiencing a global shut down. Anyone that can survive living together during that can survive anything.

Rachel gained two fur babies: Luna and Rose and the start of their family began. If it weren’t for bumble, who knows if the pair that lived less than twenty minutes away from each other their entire lives, would have crossed paths.

On 12/17/23, Mike popped the question after a beautiful dinner with Rachel’s mom and stepdad at the restaurant within our reception venue, The Hilton. The 4 went to the chocolate shop Mike helped build and then to the lights at promenade park which were gorgeous. After Mike joked that Rachel got to pick a spot for ONE photo, the two posed in what can only be described as a giant lit up gazebo that looked like Cinderella’s carriage. After smiling for the picture, Mike dropped down on one knee and popped the question. It was the perfect moment that felt out of a fairytale which is right on par for Rachel.

The two share a love of family and friends and always showing up for the people they care about. The pair continues to show up for each other and can’t wait to continue to grow together for the rest of their lives and live happily ever after!
