Marley and I met at Warren Wilson on a fated day in September 2014 when I was also injured and in the training room. I had slipped on some wet grass (a very exciting injury, I know) and had twisted my ankled to the point that my coaches thought it had broken. After I hobbled into the training room, the PT examined my ankle and I was trying not to cry. Marley was also in the training room for his knee, or shoulder, or something else and thought this was the perfect time to talk to the girl he'd been hoping to get a moment with. He asked me if I liked food, I said yes, because obviously, and he made me a spicy and odd meal of Johnsonville brats, zucchini, and probably kale soon after. We officially started dating a few weeks later when I joined Marley for his Grandpa Jim's wake and I felt like introducing myself to his mom as "the girl who's been sleeping with your son" was inappropriate. Marley and I spent the rest of college together and after graduation decided that we weren't done experiencing the world together. We've traveled around the world together, built careers together, learned that Marley loves to spend money on cars and I love to spend money on cheese, met the most incredible people, figured out how we're each annoying, loved each other anyway, got a cat, and made a life together. This picture is us on the day I convinced Marley to say that he loved me first. He said, "I think I love you Rachel Katherine Kerr." He's gotten less formal and more sure since. I've loved him since he made me brats.

What time should I arrive? We suggest arriving at 4:00 or 4:15 so you can settle in before all the excitement begins. Should I rent a car? Yes! (Or at least plan to share a rental car with a few others.) Public transport is virtually nonexistent and Ubers can be hard to get. If you'd rather not drive after the wedding (we know we definitely won't be) <a href="https://www.avltaxi.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Asheville Taxi Service </a>will allow you to schedule a pick-up at Warren Wilson to take you back to your home, hotel, or Airbnb. What's the deal with parking? The Monte Vista Hotel has plenty of parking for the welcome reception. Parking for the ceremony and reception will be on Warren Wilson's campus in the pasture where all the festivities will be held. What will we be eating? Marley grew up with pig pickin's and I grew up with pig roasts (which are the same thing just with fun regional names). We'll be doing an upscale version with pork, chicken, and all the southern sides you can imagine. Vegan and gluten free options will be available too. Will we be inside our outside? Outside! The welcome reception will be in the courtyard of The Monte Vista Hotel and, naturally, the pasture for the ceremony and reception is outside too. Please wish with us for sun! ASHEVILLE AIRPORT The Asheville airport is small and super easy to navigate. Ubers into town are easy to come by and security is a breeze. Warren Wilson is about 40 minutes from the airport, but downtown Asheville is only 20 minutes. TRANSPORTATION Transportation in Asheville is terrible. There is a <a href="https://www.ashevillenc.gov/service/transit-maps-schedules/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">bus system,</a> but it's not great. Ubers can be very difficult to impossible to get from Warren Wilson late at night. We are hoping to have some evening shuttles back to downtown Asheville but we highly recommend renting a car. (You'll also be able to do way more with a car than without!)

Travel

Marley's Must Do (and eat) in Asheville: Breakfast- Sunny point Cafe Best breakfast in town. Also generally a long wait. If you go definitely get some maple peppered bacon.- Sawhorse One of my clients. Dan is the owner and chef.Voted best diner in town this year and everything is&nbsp;- The Rhu Awesome little cafe downtown with baked goods and small bites. The coffee is great!- Lousises (in Black Mountain) Everything is delicious and the ambiance inside and out is wonderful. Lunch- White Duck Taco Tons of different options. Go to the location on the river.- 12 Bones Best BBQ out there. (Obama ate there)- Heiwa Awesome quality Japanese My childhood favorite restaurant.- Andaaz Fantastic Indian food (at lunch it’s a great buffet) Dinner- The Admiral High end and amazing. Chuck is the head chef and a buddy of mine. Fusion and experimental cuisine mixed with classic chef inspired dishes- Bull and Beggar Another higher end place. Awesome location, well worth it.- Vivian Has become a staple in Asheville for foodies.Great unique menu.- Cucina 24 Best Italian food I have ever had outside of Italy. Hands down!- Buxton BBQ Get the fried chicken sandwich. Has been on Food Network.- Vinnies Neighborhood Italian Classic American - Italian Bars- The Montford- Imperial Life- The Times Bar Breweries- Highland Brewing- Burial Brewing- New Belgium Activities- Biltmore Estate Lots to do (tour the house, explore the gardens, do wine tasting…etc. It is pricey to get on the estate and it is a busy time of year. Having said that it’s always gorgeously decorated for the holidays.- River Arts District There are tons of galleries and studios to check out. Fantastic greenway to walk and explore- The parkway is beautiful for a drive or one of the many hikes- Explore Biltmore Village Definitely a higher end vibe and a tourist attraction but it’s lovely. While there go check out the Casablanca Cigar lounge- Literally any hike
