In early 2015, I started working a filing job where I was trained by a women named Terrie. After a couple weeks of working together, we discovered that her son, Matt, and my brother, Adam, were childhood-to-present day best friends. As time went on, Terrie and I ended up becoming great friends and she came up with the brilliant idea of setting me up with her other son, David. At first, David and I both rejected the idea due to the already present friendship of our brothers. However, after a while, I just couldn't resist and decided to contact him. At the time, he was doing some military training at Fort Huachuca in Sierra Vista, AZ , so most of our contact was online and through text until we finally got to see each other again a few months later. We ended up becoming official 'boyfriend-girlfriend' on March 4th, 2016. Unfortunately, shortly after, David ended up getting stationed at Fort Wainwright, AK. Over the next two years, we were able to meet up every couple months. The memories of those visits are something we still cherish to this day! We were able to explore Alaska, which included, hiking trips, dog sledding, lots of site seeing, and even living in a dry cabin over a summer. It became increasingly clear that we were meant-to-be life partners, as cliché as that sounds, and got engaged December 19th, 2017 on a trip, planned by David, in Chicago.
Currently, I am in my third year of college at Purdue University; I am majoring in nursing and loving every minute of it! Unfortunately, this past January, I was diagnosed with cancer. I am determined to beat it and refuse to let it ruin any of my plans. Luckily, David is able to be with me as I go through this. While the day-to-day can be tough, I know with 100% certainty that I could not have a better partner to go through this with me. My family and I are absolutely appalled at just how attentive, caring, supportive, and patient Dave is.
Dave is currently serving in the Army as a drone operator. He has been in the service for nearly four years. He is a specialist awaiting his promotion to sergeant.
Also, we have one son. He is four years old, 85 pounds, and named Chewy. He is our fur-baby and we love him very much!
Dave and I have grown so much over the last few years together and are absolutely ecstatic to tie-the-knot!
