Our Wedding

Rachel and Elliot both grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia but never actually met each other until they attended James Madison University. Freshman on campus and many mutual "VB" friends they first locked eyes on the basketball court of The Village (a dorm where Elliot lived his Freshman year). Playing music, drinking beers and skipping class their first exchange of words was from Elliot : "I really like your music." Rachel blushed in flattery. From then on Rachel and Elliot always shared a mutual crush on each other. However, they were both in relationships with other people the first two years of knowing each other. Growing initially as friends but over time their chemistry and connection flourished to a point of irresistibility. Eventually breaking it off with their significant others they immediately fell into each others arms (the way it was always supposed to be from the start). Three months later they officialized their relationship title to "dating" on November 9th, 2013.*Yes, let's take a moment of silence for Rachel that she waited almost EIGHT YEARS for the beautiful ring on her finger. *

The Beginning

Over the past 8 years of their relationship they have experienced the most amazing journey together. Traveling to Europe twice which has included 16 countries! Attending 5 music festivals and chasing their favorite artists across the country. They just purchased their first home together minutes from the beach in September 2021. They also recently adopted their first fur child, Chunk in January 2021 also known as Chunky/Chunkard/ChunkerChip/Mr. Chip/Little Boi/Baby C! Who was ironically born on the same day of their "dating anniversary," November 9th, 2020. Can we say FATE?!

The Middle

Okay...let's cut to the chase. The engagement story!Rachel and Elliot planned a romantic getaway weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia on the weekend of June 18-20th.Side Note: Charlottesville has been a very special place for both Rachel and Elliot. Rachel's dad and sister both attended UVA and she grew up visiting the city and attending sports games her entire childhood. During Rachel and Elliot's early years of dating they visited Charlottesville, which was only 45 minutes from JMU, countless times. Rachel considers Charlottesville to be her "second home." Needless to say Elliot nailed it on planning to propose here.Okay back to the story... They stayed in small, quaint cottage in the middle of the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains for the weekend. The night before the big question they discovered Elliot's car had a flat tire. This threw a big wrench in the next day, which they planned to go on a long hike together . They spent the early morning frantically trying to find someone to fix their tire. Almost defeated a local tire place felt sorry for them and squeezed them in. Off to hiking they went! Elliot had planned a hike with a gorgeous waterfall at the end where he anticipated to pop the question however as they neared the end of the 3 mile hike .... no waterfall. They ended up going on the wrong planned hike. Again in a panic, Elliot made it work setting up a cute picnic by a secluded lake with snacks and champagne! As Rachel opened the champagne with her back turned, Elliot scrambled for the ring, half kneeled (due to a recent knee injury it was more like a lunge), and said "rach, will you marry me."

Were taking over Cabo Surf Hotel from Thursday, 11/10/22 to Sunday, 11/13/22! The rooms are all at discounted rates for these dates but vary depending on the room you select i.e garden room vs ocean room / king vs queen etc. See below the break down of the rooms and their pricing. Please call the front desk (858-964-5117) when booking to let them know youre with the King/McCallister wedding to get the proper rates. *PLEASE NOTE* Due to the entire hotel rooms blocked to the public you cannot book online - you must call! Discounted rates will not be honored if you book through a travel agent or third party. You are also welcome to book your room for an extended stay (arriving early or staying later) and the hotel will honor the same wedding discounted room rates, just be sure to ask. Cabo Surf is a boutique hotel with 37 total rooms. We encourage close friends &amp; family to share rooms to maximize the number of guests on-site. We also please ask you to highly consider staying at Cabo Surf Hotel during your visit. All the wedding activities and day of ceremony/reception is held on the hotel grounds.

If space at Cabo Surf Hotel is no longer available, there are many hotel and rental options close by. For hotels, you can look into Cabo Azul Resort, Hilton Los Cabos, Casa del Mar, Mar del Cabo, and Hacienda del Mar. Please contact Rachel and Elliot directly if you need more guidance!

Other Hotels, Airbnb, VRBO

A car service can be arranged for your trip arrival and departure via Cabo Surf Hotel. The car can take up to 6 persons at your request. Round trip is $90 total. One way is $50 total. There is a 16% service fee added through the hotel. Payment will be charged to your hotel room and collected upon check out. Call the hotel or send their reservations team an email to arrange the arrival and departure airport car service. email : reservations@cabosurfhotel.com phone : +54-646-142-2666 You will need to provide your name, travel dates/times, airline and any other requested travel information. You can also take a cab or uber when you arrive if you prefer. Pricing for this varies but typically it will be double or triple the price of the car service.
