It all began in the band room at Webber Middle School. They sat down in the front row of the band room, clarinets in hand, and looked to the person sitting next to them. "Hi, I'm Dylan." "My name is Rachel."
Rachel and Dylan started dating in their junior year of high school. It was a time of awkward first dates, a couple homecomings, proms, spirit band football games, and maybe a few missed curfews. They spent their high school graduation together.
They decided to go to Colorado State University together. Rachel started in music education and Dylan started undeclared. After just a semester they each discovered Health and Exercise Science and stuck with it for four years.
They went on many adventures in that time, including trying to drive through the Eisenhower tunnel in a blizzard, windshield covered in mud, with Dylan's head sticking out the window to see. Rachel was no help in the passenger seat.
The mountains have always been a place to escape, seek adventure, and relax for Rachel and Dylan. This is why Dylan knew exactly where he wanted to propose.
He took her on a beautiful weekend trip in April to Colorado Springs. He hid the ring in her favorite book with her favorite romantic line highlighted. He handed the book to her wrapped in simple brown paper at sunset on a beautiful spot overlooking the majestic Garden of the Gods as he got down on one knee. After that he pretty much blacked out.
So here they are, 15 years after that fated day in that stuffy middle school band room, madly in love, and so excited to start the rest of their life together.
