Do you have a registry?

The most important thing to us is that you are able to celebrate with us on our wedding day. If you wish to give us a gift, we will gratefully accept a small contribution towards our honeymoon.

Can I bring a plus one?

Unfortunately, we have a strict guest list due to the capacity of the venue. Our celebration is strictly RSVP only. We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your wedding invitation.

Are kids welcome?

While we love your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only event so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the kids at home so you can celebrate with us.

Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend I stay?

We have a block of hotel rooms at the Lord Elgin hotel for $189 per night. Details on booking are available under the "hotel" tab of this website. The hotel block rate is available from Friday through Sunday if you would like to spend the weekend in Ottawa. Our wedding venue is located just off Elgin Street in downtown Ottawa, with many accommodation options within walking distance. If the Lord Elgin does not meet your needs, we recommend perusing the other options in the area.

I'm coming from out of town and staying at the Lord Elgin, where can I park?

The Lord Elgin has valet parking available for $39/day. For a less expensive option, we recommend parking at Ottawa City Hall, just around the corner from the hotel on Laurier Ave. City Hall Weekend Rates are $1.00 per hour, $2.00 max from 6am to 6pm and 6pm to 6am.

What time should I arrive?

The Museum closes to the public at 5:00PM and the wedding ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30PM. Please arrive at the Museum between 5:00PM and 5:30PM to be seated for the ceremony.

Where are the ceremony and the reception taking place?

Both the ceremony and reception will be taking place indoors at the Museum of Nature. The ceremony will take place in the Queen's Lantern on the second floor of the Museum. The cocktail hour and reception will take place on the third floor of the Museum. The ceremony, cocktail, and reception locations are accessible by elevator.

I'm driving to the wedding, where should I park?

There is paid parking available at the museum. We encourage walking or taking a taxi/rideshare to the venue if you are planning to drink!

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by June 24, 2024. If we have not heard from you by that date, we will assume that you will not be attending.

Will there be an open bar?

Yes! Please make arrangements to get home safely if you are planning to drink.

Will there be dinner provided?

Yes, dinner service will begin around 7:30PM. If you usually eat earlier than that, we recommend having a snack before you arrive!

Will there be any vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free or special diet options?

Most definitely. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions when you RSVP and we will pass this information along to our caterers.

Will transportation be provided to and from the hotel and the venue?

We will not be providing transportation to the venue. It is a 15 minute walk from the Lord Elgin Hotel to the museum. You may take a taxi or rideshare service if you do not wish to walk. There is also paid parking available if you choose to drive.

What does cocktail attire mean?

Basically you should wear a suit or a cocktail dress. As long as you're not wearing a white dress or crocs, you're probably okay. Please note that the bridesmaids will be wearing eucalyptus green and the groomsmen will be wearing charcoal grey.

Does the venue have any special rules?

We don't think it'll be a problem, but because it is a museum, there are no outside plants or animals allowed. We were going to do a grand entrance with Burt and Nora in a horse drawn carriage but that's off the table unfortunately. Josh is worried you'll show up with a bouquet in your hair - please don't do this.

I still have questions. What is the best way to contact you?

In the months leading up to the wedding, feel free to reach out to Josh or Rachel directly, or at our wedding email address: rachelandjosh2024@gmail.com. The weekend of the wedding we will have someone available to answer any last minute questions. Apologies in advance to whoever that ends up being.
