Rachel and Colin met in Washington, D.C. during the fall of 2019. As recent transplants, they spent their time visiting local eateries, attending sports games, touring museums, and enjoying what the National Capital Region had to offer.

In early 2020, Colin moved out of D.C. and into northern Virginia (across the street from Rachel). Shortly after, the couple drove to Massachusetts in mid-March 2020 for what they thought would be two weeks and de facto lived together (and with Rachel's parents) until mid-May.

Rachel and Colin officially moved in together upon their return to Virginia.

In 2022, Colin proposed to Rachel at a winery in the Shenandoah Mountains. They then celebrated with dinner at a local three star Michelin restaurant. The next day, Colin surprised Rachel by having both his and her parents waiting in their apartment upon their return.

Since then, the couple has added stamps to their passports, Colin became an avid golfer, and Rachel graduated with her master's degree from Georgetown University.
