Way back in 2019, Rachel was taking an introductory level Communications class at Furman University. When her instructor offered the class extra credit, Rachel volunteered herself. The assignment was to film another class’s guest speaker. That same semester, Spencer signed up for a Business in Entrepreneurship class (with recurring guest speakers). Queue slightly awkward and introverted nerd meet-cute.


Rachel and Spencer were introduced by a mutual friend a few weeks into the semester. After a semester of off and on talking, Rachel went to one of Spencer’s Beta Theta Pi fraternity events, the annual Ugly Christmas Sweater party. The following week, they went on their first official date in downtown Greenville. Spencer tried to be romantic and suggest ice skating at Ice on Main after dinner, and Rachel suggested a movie instead. They went to see Ford vs. Ferrari and Rachel tried not to cry on their first date.

On January 15, 2020, they went on a date which ended with a very special question: “will you be my girlfriend?”

Two months later, everyone was sent home from college while the world faced a pandemic.

For some this would have been the end… Not for Rachel and Spencer.

2021:
Spencer graduated college and started his full-time career at Hitachi Solutions as a software developer.


2022:
Spencer bought a townhouse! Rachel graduated college and started her career at a creative agency. Atlas, their Golden Retriever, became part of the family.


2023:
Rachel moved into the townhouse. After moving in together, they promptly adopted Delta, their German Shepherd.


2024:
Rachel changed careers and moved to insurance. And the biggest news, Rachel and Spencer got engaged June 1st! They started planning their wedding - which y'all get to be a part of.


2025:
Rachel and Spencer celebrated 5 years together!
