I would have sworn up and down that Perry could not pull off a surprise like this without me at least having a hint of suspicion… mostly because I am nosy! We spent the entire day on the beach with my family and he was ridiculously relaxed. This location is extra special because in the same spot early on in our relationship I told Perry the house has to be on “68 degrees” at all times and he told me we should get married right then and there. I told him he didn’t have a ring and should try again later. Well fast forward to June 12th (18 months later),&nbsp;we came off the beach, showered and got ready to walk to the boardwalk for a pre-dinner snack. Totally oblivious, my family was cooking, cleaning and putting decorations together right under my nose. Perry and I left for our walk on the boardwalk and as we turned the corner I saw all that had been set up…table, chairs, champagne, rose petals and my favorite... M&amp;Ms. If it didn’t click then, it definitely clicked when a young lifeguard whispered to another teenager “I think someone is getting proposed to!” Perry bent down on one knee, said “I have the ring this time!” and asked me to marry him. We got back to the condo and both of our families were there to celebrate… best day of my life!

The Proposal…as told by Rachel

I messed up every single surprise possible during the 18 months of dating before getting engaged. Birthday? Yes. Vacation? Check. Dinners? Of course. I gave her a present for graduating from PA school two weeks before graduation because she wanted to see it, another surprise ruined. All of those surprises came with questions. Would she like the present? The destination? Does she want pizza again this weekend? I did not have a single question about proposing, except the question itself. Proposing felt too right to be questioned or to make me nervous, I knew that Rachel was and is the person I should build a life with. I knew I would do it down the shore because that is where I proposed the first time, roughly a month into our relationship. She declined. I knew I would try again. I knew I wanted as much of our families there as possible. I knew that M&amp;Ms should be involved. I knew that Rachel and I should spend our lives together. I asked and she said yes. Rachel brings a lot of calm and joy into my life, so that is exactly how I felt the day I proposed and that is how she continues to make me feel when I need peace.
