On May 26, 2016, Daniel took Rachel and her beloved dog, Ava, to a picnic on the Washington Mall. While the sun was setting behind the Washington Monument, he had Ava fetch a sock with the ring inside. Rachel always told him - if he were to propose, she'd prefer Ava was involved and the one to present the ring. He's very good at following directions.
