It's hard to put into words all of the feelings and emotions that have come from such a perfect day. It started like any of our other Disney trips... Friday night we got in town and stopped by his sister's place to drop off our things. We then went downtown to go to the Void (A Star Wars Virtual Reality), and met up with his friend Kara and her boyfriend. While we were waiting in line to enter the attraction we got to talking about our jobs Kara mentioned that she was going to photography. At first I thought nothing of it, however as the thought lingered I began to think, maybe she is taking pictures for our engagement. We continued our evening with them at Disney Springs after we completed the virtual reality experience. Then we went back to Jessica's place and went to bed, however I couldn't sleep. That night all I could do was think about, "Is this the weekend?" "What could his plans be?" and imagine everything that it could be and more. (My imagination could never have even come up with what was to come.) Now, I had a hunch it would be this weekend I had gone into our MyDisney app and noticed their weren't fast passes made for the 24th, but thought maybe he had hid them and it was to throw me off.
The next morning we woke up and we packed up our things to put in the car. Andy's mom made us breakfast in the morning before we started our magical day together. Before we left Andy gave me my new magic band, which meant we were going to Saratoga Springs, the hotel I picked out for our engagement. As soon as I saw the bands I knew I was right, and my lack of sleep was worth it : ) The butterflies and excitement just built up from there. We drove over to the hotel to put our things away and head over to Magic Kingdom for the day. I had no clue how, when, where, etc. today was going to go. I got excited every time Andy pretended to get down on one knee to "tie his shoe" or "pick up the bag". We spent the early afternoon at the park, and then around 3:00 Andy explains to me that we have to be somewhere at 5:00, and need to start heading out of the park by 4:00. The butterflies are building up even more so now that I'm thinking that it's going to happen at dinner. I walk with him and follow him with an extra little pep in my step to see where we are going. We leave the park and head to the Resort Monorail. Knowing it's one of the resorts now I begin thinking of restaurants that it could possibly be, and if is going to propose at dinner. We get off the monorail at the Contemporary hotel and make our way to the California Grill check in. My senses are high alert at this point taking everything in and reading into every little thing. We have time to kill so we walk around the property a bit before dinner. We eventually make it to the pier and Andy gets down on one knee and I quickly get excited and think "This is it!".... It wasn't it. He laughed and explained he has something more magical than that planed. So we continue walking around the property until our table is ready. When we get up to the restaurant and seated there are rose petals sprinkled over our table and the most magical view you could have! Our table sits at the perfect angle to see Magic Kingdom light up, and even view the fireworks from. Once we start eating and talking I realize it won't be at dinner, and that there is more to come. We enjoy our dinner and watch the sun set and the park light up as it gets closer to fireworks.
Once we finish dinner Andy tells me we have one last thing to do at 7:00. Now mind you it's 6:35 when we leave the restaurant, and it takes about 25 minutes (give or take) to go around the monorail circle. So, Andy is rushing out and making sure that I hurry up and walk quickly. We get to the monorail and miss the one that was right there, and have to wait for the next one. I see Andy getting anxious and tell him it's okay, and we will get to wherever we need to go in time. We get onto the next monorail and make it to the Transportation and Ticket Center where we are stopped for a routine maintenance check. I see Andy growing anxious by the second which makes me grow curious as to what he has planned next. While we are stuck there we both mention we have to use the restroom. (This is when he accidentally gives me a clue to where we are going.) Andy says, "Well hopefully there's a bathroom on the boat." and cuts of quickly and has this Oh S*** look on his face. Here I think okay a boat, so like one of the little ones that goes around the lagoon. Once get going again and get to the Grand Floridian we rush to use the bathroom and then head to the marina. There sits the Grand 1 Yacht with our amazing captains and Kara. At this moment I begin putting everything together. Time, location, his proposal plan he told me back in college at Britni Wilder's apartment during the Oscars, the privacy I asked for.
Once we are on the boat we start going around the lagoon, and I relax a bit to take in everything that is happening and how perfect the day has been. We explore the cabin and the upper deck of the yacht, and then sit and take in the scenery. At 7:50 we anchor to a buoy right in front of the castle to watch the fire works. At 7:55 the fireworks start and we sit on the back of the boat to watch, sing along, and enjoy the fireworks. As we are watching them we are singing and dancing to them, and I'm taking each and every moment in. As the show begins to finish and the speaker says "And so our journey comes to an end, but yours continues on. Grab a hold of your dreams and make them come true. For you are the key to unlocking your own magic. Now go let your dreams guide you. Reach out and find your Happily Ever After." Andy got down on one knee and then asked me If I would marry him and be his happily ever after. (I of course said yes) It was the most magical way to end our perfect day together.
I love you Andy Douglas Delgado to infinity and beyond <3
