Our Story

Our Story

Though they didn't know it at the time, the first time they crossed paths had to have been at Blue Valley Southwest High School in 2012. Rachel was a Freshman, and Hunter was a Sophomore, roaming the same halls, but not knowing one another existed.

Fast forward to 11 years later in October of 2023, Hunter had just finished up his second year of traveling full-time on the Disc Golf Professional Tour as a videographer, and was ready to get off the road to live a more "normal life". Meanwhile, Rachel was neck deep in her last year of medical school going through clinical rotations, praying to The Lord about where she was going to end up for residency in June of the next year.

Here's where Steph Kealey comes in. Steph is a long time best friend of Rachel, and has an older sister who is a close friend of Hunter's sister. One night when Rachel & Steph were together, scrubbing through a social media app, they came across a picture from Kelsey's wedding, which gave Steph the idea to see if Hunter was single, thinking they could be a good match. They both love Jesus, and fitness, what could go wrong?

Hunter received a text from his sister, Kelsey, late one night while editing videos saying "Would you go on a date with this girl from KC?". The day before receiving that text, he'd accepted a job to relocate to Nashville in a couple of months. Reluctant at first, Hunter told Kelsey probably not, since he was about to move, but that he'd think and pray about it.

After praying about it for a couple days and talking to trusted people in his life, he felt like God was telling him to go for it. After asking Kelsey her name, he looked her up on Facebook. He saw how beautiful she was, seeing that she also loved Jesus & fitness. That was all he needed to see & he said yes.

On November 17th, 2023 Rachel and Hunter went to CAVA for their first date, and met inside of the restaurant for the first time. Hunter was absolutely captivated by how beautiful she was, common interests, and how she spoke about her relationship with the Lord. The date continued on to a nearby coffee shop (where they had separately hoped to go with each other to afterwards).

Hunter was relocating to Nashville in January, but the timing couldn't have been more from the Lord. Rachel finally had time to take a breath in medical school, finishing her last rotation the day before their first date. They dated very intentionally over the next month and a half, and spent their last Christmas apart from each other that December.

December 6th, Hunter asked Rachel to be his girlfriend in front of a Christmas lights display. Then December 29th, in front of the same display, they shared the 3 words "I love you" with one another. Needless to say, things progressed quickly, and both Hunter and Rachel were confident that they were the ones for each other. The ones that they had been praying for, the ones who God called them to look for, and the ones that God knew they were going to marry before time began.

I asked Rachel to marry me on March 15th, and thankfully, she said yes. Though it's come with its ups and downs just like any relationship, I love our story, and I love Rachel Stetson (soon to be Rachel Sanders), more than I ever thought I could love someone. Without the Lord having his hand in every single part of it, none of this would be possible, and we certainly would've never met. I am so excited to marry Rachel, and have her as my wife, and mother of our future kids. Thank you to everyone who's been there to support us along the way, and none of it is possible without you (especially Steph and Kelsey). - Hunter

To the rest of our lives,
