We met for the first time in a conference room at Steelcase's headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was a fellow intern's birthday and we were celebrating with a pizza party.

Since we were both interns, we'd run into each other often at Steelcase and eventually began to see each other more on Grand Valley's campus or downtown Grand Rapids!

Every time we saw each other we'd laugh and joke about whatever funny things were happening around us. We eventually found that we not only had a similar sense of humor but also had a lot in common like playing sports, the importance of family, and so much more.

After a couple years of friendship, we felt it was time to make our relationship official! We began dating right around the time that Rachel was moving to Boston for a new job opportunity with Steelcase.

So, for eight months, Rachel lived in Boston and Michael lived in Grand Rapids. We tried to see each other at least once a month which meant we had many opportunities to plan fun trips, like visiting the Grand Canyon!

Months went by and Michael began to look for jobs in Boston. He ended up landing a great job with the local Steelcase dealer, so we packed up his truck and drove 14 hours from Grand Rapids to Southie!

We've both grown so much through our time together in Boston. We've learned so much about New England, each other, the world... and we feel so fortunate for all who have visited and have helped make Boston feel like home!
