As much as we love the irony, we didn't choose Independence because of its name. Rather, it chose us. Rachel's dear family friends, David and Lorre Coone, invited us to get married at their beautiful Victorian home in Independence, Virginia. On Journey's End Lane, no less. How could we resist?

Not by blood, but by choice. David and Lorre lived next door to Rachel's grandparents in Lake Wylie for 30 years. They've been part of Rachel's family's lives in good times and bad, and are amazing people. They are avid collectors of antiques and oddities. We're glad to be part of their collection of friends.

In the spirit of "Getting Weir'd", the dress code is what you want it to be. The terrain is grassy, and the indoor floors are old, so spike heels are not recommended. Be comfortable. Wear jeans. Dress like the diva that you are. Shoes are optional.

While we adore your little ones, we respectfully request no children at our wedding. While our hearts are pure, our language is anything but!

Independence is not a booming metropolis. David and Lorre live across the street from the Courthouse, which has a large parking lot open for our use. A golf cart will drive you up the hill, if you desire, or drop off guests who need more assistance.

Oh, dear ones. Do you KNOW the Todds? You shall be fed a variety of delectable delights celebrating all the geography of Rachel and John's courtship. Beer, wine, iced tea and cold water will be flowing.
