Our story started at our home church, Summit Crossing, when we served together in Summit Kids. You could say it was a quick visit, mainly because both of us forgot about it. Around a month later, we saw each other at a Summit bible study. The chat concluded with Haden (that’s me) asking dear Rachel if she would be wiling to get coffee sometime. And nothing happened…
Life was busy and we moved past that, until I asked my sister for Rachels number. Not quite the romantic start you might have imagined. We soon had our first date at Honest Coffee one evening after work. Fifteen minutes turned into thirty, which turned into hours together. We practically spent the evening together, and Rachel left that night thinking ‘What a funny, immature boy.’ Sixteen months later, she said yes, so who really got the last laugh.
It was not a normal relationship, as I traveled practically every other week for work. But the distance truly grew our hearts fonder for one another. Through finding common interest and our mutual faith, the Lord blessed our relationship and brought us closer together. We are so thankful for His wonderful work in our lives, both preparing for us for each other, and even when it was hard, growing and maturing us in our time together. The center of our relationship truly is our sovereign God, and His everlasting love for His children.
You’re here because she and I have both agreed to make a covenant before the Lord. One that we both take seriously. We believe that marriage is a picture of how Christ loves His bride, the church. A picture of sacrifice, of grace and mercy, and ultimately, of unfailing love.
We are so excited, and a little nervous, to take this step together. To show to the world that we are committed to each other, to the wellbeing of the other. To show we are committed to grace, mercy, and sacrifice. Believe us when we say we are counting down the days! February fifteenth is just around the corner and we hope to see you there. Where Rachel and I will, before you and the Lord, enter into this holy covenant.
