Aron and Rachel met by chance at a Halloween party. The party was being hosted by a couple of friends Aron knew from high school. Rachel was invited to tag along by one of her co-teachers, Christa, who was invited to the party. After Christa gave Rachel a quick run down of who was who, Rachel decided to introduce herself to a guy named Eric. Little did she know that Eric's name was actually Aron. After a very awkward introduction, the two started talking. As it turned out, Aron had been going around asking who invited the red head. In hopes of finding someone who could introduce them.

The two started dating, and Rachel asked Aron what he considered their dating anniversary. He told her that in his mind it was the night they met, because he knew that night.

Two years later, Aron and Rachel decided to take off work together to celebrate their anniversary. After watching most of the Lord of the Ring trilogy, the two went out to a nice dinner. Then went to a park that overlooked the Mississippi River. Aron was hoping the park would be empty and it would be just the two of them. He was very disappointed. Deciding that he would just have to deal with all the people there. Aron got down on one knee and asked Rachel to marry him! Through the happy tears steaming down her face Rachel said "YES!" Hoping to get a picture before they left Rachel walked up to one of the families at the park. The father of the family was giving her a nervous look. Upon explaining that Aron had just proposed and she wanted a picture. The father cracked up laughing, and said to his wife, "They weren't having a fight, he was proposing!" After taking Aron and Rachel's picture the wife told them her husband was worried that Rachel was going to try to jump them.
