Rachel had just moved to Maryland for graduate school. Samantha (Rachel's sister in law) suggested a girl's night out for dinner and drinks. Their waiter at dinner was none other than Dave!
Because he took such good care of the table and seemed nice, Rachel and Samantha thought it would be cute to leave him a little note on the receipt "Meet us at Crackpot," the next stop on their night out. They didn't think much of it until hours later when they saw "the waiter" walk in (photo is from the Crackpot that night). Dave and Rachel spent time talking and he asked for her number at the end of the night. Their first date happened about a week later at Red Brick Station in White Marsh, MD.
Rachel and Dave stayed in touch in the following years, remaining friends but both needing time to grow up before being ready for a serious relationship. It wasn't until St. Patrick's Day in 2012 that they reconnected and made it official. St. Patrick's Day is a special date for this reason, so it is exciting that the wedding date falls on this weekend in 2018.
2016 welcomed many milestones for Rachel and Dave. After living in the city with some of their best friends for 3 years, Rachel and Dave bought a house in Baltimore County in the Summer of 2016. Dave threw an amazing surprise birthday party for Rachel in November (an amazing feat to pull off after he broke his collar bone playing flag football the morning of the party). Walking in Baltimore City to a friend's house on New Year's Eve, Dave got down on one knee and proposed. Thrilled and somewhat stunned, they rang in the new year as an engaged couple.
