Our Wedding

We met on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at New Life Church in Ann Arbor. We were both students at the University of Michigan(Go Blue!), and it was Raegan's first Sunday before officially starting college and Grahm's first Sunday as a leader of a homegroup for church. Due to the Pandemic, the in-person service at New Life that Sunday was mainly freshmen and freshman homegroup leaders. Neither of us remember much about the moment we met, but we both knew then that the other was special and was going to be an important part our lives. We did not know if that meant we would just be friends or something more, but we did know God was going to do something really great between the two of us. From that moment on, Grahm began to gain interest in Raegan but did not want to pursue her. He knew that the first semester in college is so important for self-growth and he did not want to cause her to place her identity in a potential relationship with him instead of something so much more important. Raegan also had a small crush on Grahm that semester, but that's all it was and she expected it to soon go away. Then plans changed (that's the understatement of 2020). U of M terminated all housing contracts and required freshmen to move out of their dorms just before Thanksgiving break and to not return in the winter, unlike was originally promised. So, Grahm had a decision to make; should he wait to pursue Raegan until after she returned to campus the next school year in 2021, or should he try to do something before she moved home before Thanksgiving? He chose the latter and asked her to coffee 2 days before she left. We then spent the next 2 months going on dates and facetiming before we made things official over facetime (very pandemic of us) on January 24, 2021. The next 3 and a half years include so many blessings. To name a few, we both graduated from U of M (Grahm in 2023 and Raegan in 2024), Grahm moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to begin a job as a systems engineer (resulting in long distance that will last almost 2 years), Raegan moved to Lansing, MI to begin a job as a software developer, and Michigan won the National Championship in football. After a long time of dating and waiting for us to get degrees, we were finally ready to start thinking about getting engaged and married. Raegan only had one condition: that Grahm completely surprised her when he proposed. He did just that. On Thursday, June 27, Grahm told Raegan that he was staying home from work sick with poison ivy that he had caught the weekend before. But little did Raegan know that he actually was driving up to Michigan that day while she was at work. She had no idea because he set his location to track his old phone in North Carolina so it appeared he was still at his apartment. Raegan left work this day to find a gift bag sitting on her car with a note saying that she had a reservation in Ann Arbor at 6:15 TONIGHT, to maybe wear something white or purple, and to follow the trail of purple flowers once she parks. From there, she rushed home completely frazzled and with her best friend on facetime, she tried on 5 different white dresses, fixed her hair, filled her car with gas, and drove to Ann Arbor to arrive very timely at 7 pm. At this point, some people had begun to steal the purple flowers Grahm had place for Raegan, so he texted that she should head toward the Union if she couldn't find the trail, and later that she should head towards the Law Quad. After crossing the street, she continued to follow the trail of purple flowers until it stopped at the first entrance of the quad. Except, it was not clear she had to walk into the Law Quad, so she kept walking. This was when Grahm called to her, came out to greet her, and guided her in to a spot in the Law Quad where he finally got on one knee with a very shiny ring and asked the question they both had been waiting nearly 3 years for him to ask. She said yes.
